"The Old Familiar Cage"
The heartbeats, so quickly
The palms begin to sweat
I said I'd be a stand in
Now I wish I were dead

Swiftly, no warning
The color drains away
Replaced by a blushing
Bright red has come to stay

Have patience
Temptations
To scream and
Run off the stage
Go hide in some small corner
Darkness is all the rage

Eyes widen, mouth opens
And like a frog I croak
Can't speak although I'm trying
The dry moths in my throat

"Go on now," she whispers
"Recite your crucial lines."
They're looking, they're watching
Exhaling long loud sighs

They sit there, exuding
What is indifference
A mass of apathetics
Make up the audience

Have patience
Temptations
To scream and
Run off the stage
Go hide in some small corner
An old familiar cage
