The Griffith's Valuation of the Townland of Close, parish of Kilwatermoy, barony of Coshmore and Coshbride, County Waterford, Ireland

The Griffith's Valuation is a list of persons who rented land and property in Ireland in the 1840s and 50s; it defined the size and value of property for the purpose of assessing a fair tax on Irish citizens. It lists both occupiers and the lessors they rented from, and includes  a description of the property, the area in acres, roods, and perches (forty perches to the rood, four roods to the acre), and the net annual value of the land and buildings. The value is given in pounds and shillings, and there are twenty shillings to the pound. I have omitted all the numerical details except gross acreage in the interest of getting this information onto the website. The letters under "Description" stand for house, office, land, garden, and small garden.
