Ruth Regan Bunn at the time of her marriage. She met Willard Bunn when she went to Springfield, IL to teach at the Tiffany School of Music; Ruth had trained as a concert pianist and was a graduate of the Busch Academy of Music. She had also studied at the Convent of the Visitation School in St. Paul and played a Grieg piece for her piano debut in Chicago. Willard met Ruth through the Tiffany daughters. Though he had never expressed an interest in music before, he was overheard to say, "How long does it take for a fellow to learn to play the piano?" They were wed in January, 1913 in Chippewa Falls in a quiet ceremony followed by a reception at her parents' home.
