| Amazingly, Ibby Taylor Greer saw the photo taken by Jack Hogan of Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin at the Yalta Conference during World War II and recognized the pilot standing in back of Roosevelt as Joseph Hart, a relation of hers on her father's side and the pilot of the plane that carried Roosevelt to the Conference. Jack and Joseph may even have known each other, but almost certainly did not know that their families were connected by the marriage of Joseph's first cousin (Henry StrykerTaylor, far right in this photo) and Jack's second cousin once removed (still living -- a great-great-granddaughter of Patrick and Johanna Hogan through their daughter Mary Rose). The grandfather of Joseph Hart and Henry Stryker Taylor (Ibby's father), pictured here, died soon after this photo was taken, and Joseph Hart was killed when a plane he was piloting for Pan Am crashed in California in the 1950s. Left to right: Bill Capps, Joseph Hart, John Hart, DeeDee Capps (these children are all first cousins of Ibby's father, far right), Henry Stryker, Esq. (Ibby's grandfather), Bob Taylor (Ibby's uncle), Henry StrykerTaylor (Ibby's dad). It is through her great-grandfather (Henry Stryker, Esq., in this photo) that Ibby's family goes back to Jan Stryker in the 1650s in New Amsterdam and later in New Jersey. His wife, Elizabeth Henshaw McClure Stryker, descended from John and Priscilla Alden, the Brewsters, and other lines that can be traced back to the Mayflower. MORE PHOTOS PHOTO INDEX HOME |
