William Hebert Taken By Death Saturday Night


William N. Hebert, 225 W. Spruce Street, well known real estate broker and former County Clerk of Chippewa County, passed away at 11.15 o'clock Saturday night at St. Joseph's Hospital after a lingering illness.

A requiem mass will be sung at Notre Dame Church at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the family plot in Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Mason-Herzog Funeral Home after 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

The parish rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 8:15 o'clock Tuesday evening. The Knights of Columbus will say the rosary in a body at 7:00 o'clock Tuesday evening.

Mr. Hebert was born February 22, 1886, in the town of Eagle Point, the son of Joseph and Mary Hebert. He was married February 12, 1911, in St. Paul to Lillian Trudelle. Mr. Hebert served as County Clerk of Chippewa County for three terms, from 1911 to 1917, and for five terms from 1929 to 1939. He also served as City Treasurer of the City of Chippewa Falls in 1926, 1927 and 1928.

Mr. Hebert was a member of Notre Dame Church, the Holy Name Society, Goldsmith Council, Knights of Columbus, Goldsmith General Assembly of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the United Commercial Travelers, and a charter member of the Chippewa Falls Elks Lodge.

Surviving are six sons: John of Duluth, Minn., William N., Jr., Medford, Wis., Robert, Chippewa Falls, Donald, Iowa City, Ia., Richard, Chicago, Ill., Gilbert, Hartford, Ill., three daughters, Margaret Mary, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Glen (Susan) Gunderson, and Mrs. Dean (Elizabeth) Lewison, Chippewa Falls; three brothers, Louis P. and Charles, town of Eagle Point, and Homer of Chippewa Falls, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lillian Trudelle Hebert, two brothers, Joseph and Gilbert and one sister, Mrs. Peter (Marie) Murphy.

Hebert, Jr., Medford, Wis.; Donald Hebert, of Iowa City, Ia.; Richard Hebert, Chicago, Ill.; Gilbert Hebert, Hartford, Conn.; Mrs. Lawrence Durand, Reedsburg, Wis.; Mrs. Joseph Trudelle, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trudell, and Mary Ellen, Duluth, Minn.: Mr. and Mrs. John Trudelle and Judy, of Ladysmith, Wis.; Mrs. M.H. McInnis and Roddy, Eau Claire. Many friends from Medford, Eau Claire, Bloomer, Cadott, Cable and the surrounding communities attended the service.
