Michael Hogan, a pioneer of the city, died at St. Joseph's hospital at 10 o'clock last night at a ripe age. A son, John J. Hogan, and two sisters, Mrs. James Sullivan and Mrs. Hannah Long, survive. Mr. Hogan was city assessor eleven years, first in 1873.




From the Daily Independent, Sunday morning, Jan. 26, 1908 (John's brother):

  
The funeral of Michael Hogan will take place Monday morning at 9:30 services at Notre Dame church.

   Mr. Hogan died Thursday night in his eightieth year. He was born in Ireland and came to Chippewa Falls in 1852, and has resided here ever since. He was one of the first city aldermen, assessor eleven years and a member of the original building committee that planned and erected Notre Dame church. The remains are now at the home of Mr. C. T. Regan.
