| From a Chippewa Falls newspaper, 1950. Maude Lynch Powers was the wife of John P. Powers, a grandson of Patrick and Johannah Hogan through their daughter Johanna Hogan Powers: MRS. JOHN POWERS Mrs. John P. Powers, a former well known resident of this city, passed away Friday, December 8, at Morton, Minn. The remains arrived in Chippewa Falls today and were taken to the Mason-Herzog Funeral Home, where they will lie in state until the hour of the funeral Tuesday morning at nine o'clock at Notre Dame church. Interment will be made in Hope cemetery. The rosary will be recited tonight at 7:30 o'clock at the funeral home. Mrs. Powers was born Maude Lynch February 4, 1874, in Buckingham, Quebec, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Weldon Lynch. She came to Chippewa Falls when a young girl and was graduated from Notre Dame high school with the class of 1894. She taught school at the South Side and Island street schools before her marriage to John P. Powers on June 25, 1901, at Notre Dame church, city. They resided in Chippewa Falls until 1906 when they moved to Cloquet, Minn., where they lived until 1947 when they moved to Morton, Minn. Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband, four daughters and two sons: Miss Joan L. Powers, Minot, N. Dak., Mrs. Paul A. Sanders, Mt. Prospect, Ill., Miss Norah C. Powers, and Mrs. Harold A. Schwartz, both of Milwaukee; J. Weldon Powers of Morton, Minn., and Richard P. Powers of Arlington, Va., ten grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Reginald H. Vibert of Cloquet, Minn. HOME OBITUARIES |
