| Margaret Zent Manning was the wife of Jim Manning, a son of John and Bridget's daughter Amelia: Hysham -- Margaret Zent Manning, 98, of Hysham, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at the St. Vincent Hospital and Health Center in Billings. Margie was born March 3, 1901, in Berwick, N.D., the daughter of Matt and Mary Bott Zent. She moved with her family to Hysham in 1913 where she attended schools, graduating from Hysham High School. On March 9, 1922, Margie married James P. Manning in Sand Point, Idaho. They lived in Helena from 1938 to 1941 and operated the Big Horn Store from 1941-1946. When they returned to Hysham, Margie worked as a bookkeeper for Zent Hardware, which later became Manning International, until retiring at the age of 96. Margie has lived the last three years in Billings until recently moving to St. John's Lutheran Home. Margie was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and Altar Society in Hysham. She will be remembered for her humility, deep faith, and love of family and friends. She is survived by her seven children: Margaret (Erwin) Heberle of Forsyth, Jere (Doris) Manning of Hysham, Robert Manning of Hilko, Hawaii, Ronald Manning of Mesa, Ariz., Marilyn Manning of Hysham, Sharon (Willis) Rexford of Billings, and Colleen (Wayne) Suhr of Billings: three sisters, Cecelia Carroll of Billings, Bea Geurkink of Hysham, and Dolores Young of Spokane, Wash; 29 grandchildren as well as numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Margie was preceeded in death by her husband, Jim Manning in June, 1983; two brothers Herb and Harold Zent; her sister Leona Wohl; and her granddaughter, Kristin Heberle. Rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at the St. Joseph Catholic church with the Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Hysham Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's Altar Society, P.O. Box 226, Hysham, MT, 59038, or the charity of own personal choice.
