| (Leo Sullivan obituary, continued) Since there was no on in court who could prove they weren't draft cards, Mr. Sullivan's 25 clients strolled out. Among the noted cases handled by Mr. Sullivan was the defense of C. Thomas Patten, husband and partner of evangelist Bebe Patten on grand theft charges in 1950. Patten was convicted on five counts of grand theft. He also handled the unsuccessful appeals of Burton Abbott, who was executed in 1957 for the kidnap-slaying of Stephanie Bryan. RESEARCH In the last ten years, Mr. Sullivan handled research for several East Bay and San Francisco law firms and insurance companies. Surviving him are his wife, (private), of San Leandro; two sons (private) and a brother, George, of San Francisco.
