From the Springfield, Illinois State Journal-Register, December 8, 2002. George Regan Bunn was a great great grandson of Patrick and Johanna through his mother Ruth Regan, her mother Margaret Hanrahan, and her mother Mary Rose Hogan:


George R. Bunn

SPRINGFIELD -- George Regan Bunn, 87, of Springfield died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at St. John's Hospital.

He was born August 5, 1915, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., the son of Willard and Ruth Regan Bunn. He married (private) in 1940 in Peoria.

Mr. Bunn graduated from the Lawrenceville School and attended Princeton University. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served on Peleliu in the South Pacitic during World War II. He was the founder and chairman of Bunn-O-Matic Corp. and chairman of Bunn Capitol Corp. He was active in farming.

He had served on many boards, including the original Springfield Marine Bank board, St. John's Hospital lay advisory board, SIU Medical School board of directors and National Cutting Horse Association. He was a member of the original committee for the formation of Sangamon State University, now the University of Illinois at Springfield, Christ the King Parish, Illini Country Club and Sangamo Club. He served on the board of trustees at the Lawrenceville School and MacMurray College. He supported many charitable organizations.

Survivors: wife, (private); two sons, (private) of New York and (private) of Springfield; two daughters, (private) of Springfield and (private) of Northport Point, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister (private) of Delray Beach, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Christ the King Catholic Church, the Rev. David S. Lantz officiating. Private burial: Calvary Cemetery.
