Specialist Dale Sizemore was sitting in the hanger during the mission because of an injury to his elbow a few days prior to the mission. When the ground convoy carrying Pilla's body and the injured Blackburn, Sizemore tore off the cast over his arm in order to go out and fight with his chalk. The convoy did not make it to rescue the other men, however, Sizemore did take part in the giant rescue convoy that made their way to the men early on the morning of October 4th.
