Lieutenant Gary Harrell was in Black Hawk Romeo Six Four throughout the Battle of the Black Sea, overseeing the men on the ground, which was his responsibility. Harrell communicated with the ground forces by radio, instructing them where targets were, where the Black Hawks had downed, and where Somalis were coming around the men. Harrell was asked for things needed by the men on the ground and took watch over them throughout the battle.
