Sergeant Matt Eversmann was on his first mission as a chalk leader and was bound to do his job, and do it well.  He was responsible for Chalk Four, under this chalk was Todd Blackburn, the first Ranger to be injured.  He went through the battle witnessing his men fall, wounded after wounded.  Eversmann and his chalk, in result of so many wounded, were put onto the ground convoy and returned back to base.  After the battle, he faced the guilt of seeing all of the men under his chalk who were injured.
