SPECIAL PROJECTS
1) Mountain Bike Training for Adults. This project consists of organizing and teaching a seminar for adults on safe mountain biking techniques. The seminar must be coordinated with the Director of Parks and Recreation and be held in an area with available parking and good beginning level trails, Chimney Rock Park is recommended. Advance notification to interested individuals is critical and multiple means to advertise the seminar is a must. The seminar should be geared to beginner level adults and include all basic techniques needed to ride the trails safely, including trail etiquette. It must also include a discussion of safety and other equipment. The goal is to provide information to adults interested in getting into the sport for exercise on how to do it safely and at reasonable cost.
2) Mountain Bike Training for Kids. Similar to the above, but directed to kids and their parents.
3) Naked Eye Astronomy. This project consists of organizing and teaching a seminar for adults and children on astronomy using naked eyes and binoculars. The seminar must be coordinated with the Director of Parks and Recreation and be held in an area with available parking and open ground, Chimney Rock Park is recommended. Advance notification to interested individuals is critical and multiple means to advertise the seminar is a must. Contacting the local schools is recommended. AVAILABLE for 2005, DONE - by RANNA BANSEL Troop 88 in 2004 and should not be selected for an Eagle Scout project again.
