Andrew Apostolopoulos This project consisted of boardwalks mostly in segment #3 South but partially in segment #2 including a large section near the Gateshead detention basin. Andrew had to make changes to his plan while Chip was on vacation and showed excellent judgment. Troop 88

Jessie Aubry This project consisted of 160-foot boardwalk near
Peeper Pond, just east of Greg Merten’s boardwalk and
bridges. Greg’s boardwalk was shifted in heavy rains in the
summer of 2000. The repair and pinning of his walk was

David Breeding This project consisted of the construction of 42 feet of boardwalk with gravel on both ends near Chen's Pond and a 16 foot bridge over the outfall of the Solomon Drive detention basin. The bridge was built of 6x6 and has handrails. Troop 84

Christopher Caravanos This project consisted of a 16' bridge made of 6x6s near the westerly end of Pete Stickles middle bridge connected to two sections of boardwalk, one attached to Pete's Bridge ramp and the other extending about 48' to the west. Troop 88

Drew Eakins This project consisted of constructing four flights of stairs connected by landings totaling about sixty feet long and rising about fifteen feet. It is built of lumber set onto precast concrete blocks placed by the Public Works Department on the day of the World Trade Center attack. The stairs are located at the back of Chimney Rock Park near Chip’s Bridge. Troop 154

John Evancho This project consisted of two 20 foot bridges with ramps one at end of trail segment #2 the other in trail segment #3 South This was the first Eagle Scout project approved and constructed, as such it broke the ice with the BSA and opened the way for those that followed. Ardmaer construction provided a backhoe and operator for a day to excavate the footings and transport concrete. The total length with ramps is 62 Feet. Troop 88

Karl Fong These boardwalks are located westerly of Jason Pulsinnelli's and between Pete's small bridges, includes extending Keith Binkley's boardwalks and a connection to Pete's bridge. We developed a technique to bend a boardwalk now called the Karl Fong crab maneuver.

Steve Hsu Trail segment #1 located between Argonne Farm Bridge and Mount Vernon Road is the western most of the trail system. This project consisted of opening the trail and installing some fence. Troop 88

Dave Jenne This project consisted of the construction of three bridges and seventy feet of boardwalk. The small bridge is located on the trail between John's two bridges where a pipe was eroded out. The other two bridges are located between Andrew and Ankurs’ boardwalks. The first spans twenty feet and has handrails and uses 2x12 joists. The second was built of 6x6s and was incorporated into the boardwalk. The boardwalk extends Ankurs’ boardwalk westerly toward Dave's largest bridge. Troop 154

Sameer "Sam"Khetan This project was the first Eagle Scout project created by combining medium sized projects. It was a combination of projects located west of Tullo Road: extending a boardwalk from the westerly end of Mike's Bridge, placing rip-rap under the bridge to protect against further erosion, installing a split rail fence limiting parking to an area Tullo Road, installing benches along Gold Meadow, and improving the trail surface. Sudhir "Suds" Khetan This project consisted of planting dutch iris & daylilies in a raised bed near the kiosk, and planting a naturalized pattern of native plants near Mikes Bridge. The majority of the plants were Blue Flag Iris (Iridaceae versicolor). The plantings also included: Cardinal Flower, Butterfly Weed, Spice Bush, Swamp Milkweed, and a wildflower seed mix that itself included many native flowers. Troop 46

J.D. Koblan This project consisted of documenting the old cemeteries in Bridgewater. This included, locating and sketching each old cemetery, photographing each stone and recording the inscription. The book is available in the Somerset County - Bridgewater Library.
Tom Lahey This project consisted of clearing and building 180 feet of boardwalk extending Ravi Raju’s walk to the East. This walk will be extended another 180 feet toward closing the Trail Segment #3 North loop. Troop 46

Chip Martin This project consisted of a 30 foot single span bridge with ramps over tributary to East Branch, behind Chimney Rock Park. This bridge uses arched beams and handrails similar to Tom's bridge. The total length with ramps is 57 Ft. Troop 46

Peter Mitchell This project consisted of making repairs in trail segment #2 resulting from damage caused by Hurricane Floyd. The repairs included removing a section of Andrew’s boardwalk from the brook, resetting another section, and installing stone sections of trail in muddy areas. Troop 83

Keith McWhorter This project consisted of research, review of the environments along the trail, obtaining materials for, and construction and installation of bird houses for birds. John Mergott This project consisted of 104 feet of boardwalk, 90 feet of split rail fence and 12 feet of chained opening in trail segment #3 North, west of Ravi's boardwalk. He also set one sign post and lowered the end of another boardwalk. Troop #154

Greg Merten This project consisted of clearing about 1,600 feet of trail at the easterly end of trail segment #3 north. He also constructed two 10-foot bridges and about 60 feet of boardwalk and ramp. This project was the first improvement on trail segment #3 north that with segment #3 south creates a loop. Troop 41

Patrick Nametz This project consisted of the construction of two 12 foot bridges with handrails within the easterly end of trail segment #3 north, between Alliance Bridge and the future NJIT Bridge. Chris Navarrete This project consisted of a 40-foot single span bridge with ramps east of Tullo Road near Spring Run. This bridge uses the same beams that Tom's does but the picket handrails gave it a different appearance. The stream is much deeper at this point than any other bridge. Todd Stawicki This project consisted of obtaining materials for, constructing, and installing four purple martin colony boxes and two bat houses. The purple martin boxes were installed at the Senior Citizen building, Peter Par Park, Chimney Rock Park, and Cedar Brook Park. The bat houses are at Thomae Park and Gene King Park. Troop 154

Kevin Stianchi This project consisted of making and installing nesting boxes in areas where there are proper conditions to attract blue birds (27) and wood ducks (5). As a service project Kevin will observe and monitor the boxes to determine if they are used. Initial check found four nested pair of bluebirds. Troop 88

Pete Stickle This project consisted of one 10 foot, one 15 foot and one 26 foot bridge west of Tom Vitale's bridge in trail segment #3 South. The long span was constructed on built up beams constructed of dimensional lumber by the scouts. The total length with was ramps 98 Feet. Troop 88

Daniel Schwarz This project consisted of building a flight of stairs near Solomon Drive, a ten foot bridge, and a bench near Tullo Farm Road. The stairs aid hikers traverse a short but steep hill. The bridge is of a unique parabolic arch design and echoes the near by Chris' 40-foot bridge. The bench is a good spot to contemplate pool and riffle formation or just look at the little fishies. Bryon Thomas This project consisted of the construction of two kiosks with informational sign panels listing all the scouts and a map of the trail. The kiosks are located at Crim Fields and Chimney Rock Park. Ian Thomas This project consisted of creating a Middle Brook Trail website to be attached to the townships website by the creator of the latter site, Brian Veloso. The project included arranging various documents and maps into a logical design. It also involved taking still and moving pictures, and recording sounds. Troop 154

Tom Vitale This project consisted of a 40 foot bridge and ramps across the Middle Brook west of the School. This bridge has arched handrails for a graceful appearance. South Branch Investment lent a generator to the Township for the scouts to use. The total length with ramps is 60 Feet. Troop 46
