Home Go Away

This is our place:

We have a two car garage for Gerardo's truck (a 4.0l V6 Mazda) (and my car that is now with my mom).   Counting from the ground, we have about 30 stairs to climb before getting up to the main living area. road.jpg (30215 bytes)

Chris has collected a few rugs and we have them hanging in the entry stairs.   We also have family pictures on the ledge as you come up the stairs and pictures from our trips to Argentina and New Zealand.

diego1.jpg (36377 bytes)Here is our main living area. A couple of things to notice.  First, we have that funny device on the TV.  For our first 6 months, we were without cable, but we finally broke down and have started writing checks to the cable company.  Basic cable is only $10/month and includes Comedy Central and the SciFi channel.  A pretty good deal in our book.

The astute observer might also note that the fireplace is OFF CENTER with the wall.   Not exactly what we wanted, but they will not fix it.  The fireplace is wood burning, so we will not have it going. Too bad that Dallas builders are afraid of gas.

The centerpiece on the mantle is fused glass that we picked up in Tlaquepaque, Mexico.   We are still in our IKEA period for furniture.  We will wait until we get a bigger place to go crazy with things.

Here is Gerardo working in the kitchen.  Nice white cabinets, and all of three drawers.  Not exactly the biggest kitchen in the world, but it opens out into the rest of the apartment, so Gerardo can listen to the TV while he makes dinner

To get around the lack of space in the kitchen, we bought a rack for the hallway and put our  cookware up there. Notice that we have an entire shelf for Corning Ware and Pyrex.  I guess we can cross that off the list before we start registering for gifts.    Apparently the apartment was designed for people who spend more time in the bathroom than in the kitchen, since the master bath is bigger than the kitchen.

open2.jpg (25126 bytes)  Our bedrooms are big--12x15 and 12x12.  We use one for an office and the other as a bedroom.  Although Gerardo may consider moving me into the office this year.  He teaches three nights a week until 10 PM, and I favor going to bed early (like around 9:30).  We will figure something out sooner or later.

Hoping all is well with y'all.
