I came out to my family just a couple of years ago when I was 27.  I have terribly open minded parents, and they along with the rest of the family like me and my boyfriend a bunch. Mom's reaction: "I am glad you are broadening your horizons."  Apparently she was worried that I was becoming too boring.   Would that every person could have parents as embracing as mine have been.

My mother's reaction ranks up there with a line from Douglas Coupland's Microserfs.   One of the characters comes out to his office and someone says, "Does that mean you are going to dress better?" 

I have met everyone in my boyfriend's immediate family, and have only introduced my boyfriend to my four sisters and one of my brothers.  Just one brother is left, and he is hard to catch. 

Why did I wait?  I guess I wanted to get my life organized first and finish my schooling.  I did so, then I decided to look for someone to share my life.  About a year later, I found Gerardo, my current boyfriend.
