The Rally on the Rio 2008, was held by the Rio Grand Valley Wood Carvers on Jan, 21 thru 26. Classes were 8 to 5 daily. The Annual Carving Show was Jan. 22 at Pharr International Civic Center in Pharr, Tx.
The Cip-O -Tex annual Carving Show is Feb 8 and 9 from 9am to 5pm at Casa De Amstadt in Harlingen. We will need lots of help. We will need help on the first morning to get the carvings for display and judging to the right place on the table. Sign up sheets for volunteers at the door , security and guarding the Park Place display are available for both days. Also, be sure to finish some small cutouts for door prizes for the show. Our show is a success because of the help you all give. Entry fee for each person is $1.00 each day unless you show your Chip-O-Tex badge and then it is free. Entry fee for each carved item to be judged is $3.00. But if you rent a table for your business then the first 2 entries are free. Preregistration can be done Tues. Feb 5th at our regular meeting. Be sure to bring friends to the show!
Tues, Feb 19th at 1030am will be the annual carvers auction at Park Place. The money from the auction is used to give the park back something for allowing us to use this area for our meeting. Donations are what we will be auctioning off----items of any kind ar welcomed. It doesn't need to be a carved item. The more we have, the better the auction.
Feb 21, 22, & 23, the Stedman's will be at Park Place for a 3 day course in learning Low Relief Carving. Cost is $95. There's still room for a couple more. Sign up Tues
