Charlie Johnson with his Bird entry of a Heron won the Judges Choice Award. This carving was life size, beautifully carved and painted. A dragonfly was included to give it a realistic setting. The Carvers Choice Award was won be Gerard Brossoit with his Whole Figure of a Masai African warrior. It was beautifully done in butternut with a natural finish. Pete Peterson with his deep Relief carving won the Peoples Choice Best of Show Award. The subject matter caught the attention of all viewers, a barge at a lock. The carving was exquisitely carved down to every detail.
Raffle prizes carved by the Chip O Tex Woodcarvers were given out periodically during the Show. There were also many carvings to be sold at the show as well as many vendors with carving tools and many types of wood for carvering.
Our special thanks to all of the Carvers who participated in the show, the vendors, the visitors and to the many others who contributed in some way to make our show so successful. Plans are now underway for next year's February show. We hope to see you there!
