Welcome to our R.A.P. Chin Rescue 2000 directory.The Chinchillla Regional Assistance Programs (R.A.P.) were begun in 1998 after the ice storms in the Northeast US and Southeast Canada, mud slides in California, fires in Florida, heat waves in Texas, and hurricanes in the Midatlantic threatened not only humans, but the many pet chinchillas who reside in these regions. When natural disasters strike, people in these areas receive many well-wishes from those out of harm's way, but there was little that anyone could do to assist those in need...untill now. The creation of Chinchilla R.A.P. has enabled those in different regions of the world to coordinate in advance of a disaster and to work out a plan to help each other. It is our hope that families with chinchillas will use these sites to contact their neighbors and to arrange a network whereby they can assist each other's chinchillas when there is a disaster.
In addition, these sites may also allow people in different regions, with a common interest in pet chinchillas, to meet and to share ideas on enhancing their pet's well-being. Some regional groups are in communication with local animal shelters and have arranged to rescue chinchillas who are brought to them. Other groups work to educate those in their area about chinchillas and how best to care for them. If you have a chin that you can no longer care for, or know someone who does... this is the place to turn. Everyone listed is here to help you.
