WASTED

When it began I remember
A vision of the end
The wonder that I rendered
The fears I did defend
Losing all the answers
Before a doubt arose
So the taking time
In wait for the new growth

What is a life
That begs to lose its time
Losing the sight
To read between the lines
Is it wasted

What is a happy ending
And what is it to pray
Feel persistence bending
Of the deeper need to stay
Don't move, don't speak
And don't dare ask why
It's only for the cold and dead
Just let it pass you by

Has this become a game
The pieces are just held in place
Inside the walls of any moment
A truth that we can't face
It's veiled within everything
And everything will take
We've tried to fake
But everything's at stake

Security is held in pockets of the blind
Leading us all to be left behind
It's sickening and shocking
Under foot and tattered stocking
Away from communication
And tolerated for the duration

What is a life
That begs to lose its time
Losing the sight
To read between the lines
Is it wasted
We can't be wasted
I am not wasted
