When did you start doing pageants and how many other ones have you done? Aside from Miss USA, this is my first pageant. I ran for Miss District of Columbia for the first time this year. I lucked up, I got a trainer for a day and she showed me a few tips which really helped.
Do you think that will be a disadvantage? Have you been practicing a lot? Ive been practicing a lot and I dont think its going to be a disadvantage. I think it helps to be kind of fresh to it, just your answers be natural and not rehearsed. Its really important for the girl to come off fresh.
What made you join Miss D.C.? I have the prettiest cousin who was Miss Pennsylvania USA 2003 and she told me about her experience with the Miss USA system. How much she enjoyed it, how much fun she had and all the friends she made. Not only that but its great networking great way to meet people. A lot of opportunities arise from Miss USA and the Miss Universe Organization. Its a great way to be a role model and a spokes model.
What have you gained from this experience, just being here? Just being here, Ive honestly gained the chance to meet so many girls that are successful, that are ambitions. Theyre doing so many things in their community and where theyre from. Its really unique to meet so many people with these qualities that are actually out there doing things. A lot times we tend to be around people, and not purposely, but just arent so ambitious. Its great because it kind of makes you strive for more and get to hear what other girls are doing.
Who do you think is your fiercest competitor? I think all the girls are really tough competition. There are so many beautiful girls of all different nationalities and race. I cant pin point one girl, like, Shes gonna win, its never just out there. Its not all about looks its also about personality and itll show. Were here for 3 weeks and you cant hide for so long. So how genuine someone is and how good hearted a person is, itll come through. I think whoever wins Miss USA will have those qualities its not just going to be about how attractive she is.
Special Thanks to Miss District of Columbia USA for the interview
