The Miss Asia website is featuring betting odds for the contestants. The public bets on who they think will win the pageant, those with lower numbers have higher odds of winning. At the end of the pageant, the people who voted for the winner will be entered in a raffle for a cash prize. If the winner had a 13 in 1 odds of winning, the raffle would be for 130,000 HKD. As of 10/15, the odds were as follows:
3:1 - #19 Wu Fang (China) 4:1 - #21 He Yu Ting (China) 5:1 - #22 Tian Xiao Lei (China) 6:1 - #10 Choi Ju Hee (Korea) 6:1 - #20 Li Tong Tong (China) 8:1 - #18 Sun Chen (China) 9:1 - #15 Mikako Margaret Stukas (Japan) 10:1 - #5 CIndy Wong (Hong Kong) 13:1 - #14 Tran Thi Huong Giang (Vietnam) 14:1 - #3 Ruiz Yang (Taiwan) 15:1 - #2 Cinderella Li (Hong Kong) 16:1 - #8 Grace Cheung (Hong Kong) 17:1 - #4 Hannah Cheung (Hong Kong) 18:1 - #6 Kathy Wu (USA) 20:1 - #9 Natalya Selivanova (Uzbekistan) 30:1 - #12 Neha Ahuja (India) 35:1 - #16 Qiu Fan Si (China) 45:1 - #13 Eva Roslan (Singapore) 50:1 - #11 H'ng Choy Yin (Malaysia) 70:1 - #17 Qiao Yi Fei (China) 99:1 - #1 Jessica Wong (Canada) 99:1 - #7 Annie Dai (Hong Kong) 99:1 - #23 Dai Yu Qiu (China)

The 23 contestants appear in swimsuit for the first time in front of the press. #2 Cinderella Li (Hong Kong) and #7 Annie Dai (Hong Kong) were singled out for their bust size. #12 Neha Ahuja (India) was a press favorite until she appeared in swimsuit. #12 Neha was bottom heavy, which she knew by constantly covering her legs. Hot favorites are #5 Cindy Wong (Hong Kong), #10 Choi Je Hee (Korea) and #19 Wu Fang (China).
October 1st
23 contestants appeared for the first time in front of the press. 8 contestants represented SAR with 5 contestants from Hong Kong/Macau district, 1 Taiwan district winner, 1 USA district winner and 1 Canada district winner. They were joined by 8 China district contestants and 7 Asian district contestants from India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Uzbekistan and Vietnam. Lebanon was suppose to send a contestant, but due to turmoil in the country, their contestant could not attend the pageant. Current press favorites are #10 Choi Je Hee (Korea), #12 Neha Ahuju (India) and 19 Wu Fang (China). #2 Cinderella Li (Hong Kong) is once again center of attention because of her cleavage. #6 Kathy Wu (USA) is critized by the press for being a overweight.
September 26th
After 2 and a half weeks of events, 5 contestants of Miss Asia - Hong Kong/Macau SAR District have advanced. A preliminary to the Miss Asia finals, 12 contestants took part to fight for 5 spots into the Miss Asia final pageant. The 5 girls continuing in the month long Miss Asia pageant are #4 Grace Cheung, #6 Annie Tai, #7 Cinderella Lee, #8 Hannah Cheung and #9 Cindy Wong. #8 Hannah was chosen as Miss Photogenic, while #7 Cinderella was chosen as Miss Sweetest Smile.
I am a little disappointed in the results. The results were a combination of online voting and judges voting (which is basically saying the online voting is to bring exposure but the results are actually based on the judges). #7 Cinderella was an obvious favorite by the judges as she has won 3 awards during the competition. The problem I have with her is that her whole look makes her look dirty. She doesn't have the fittest body either, but is a favorite due to her heavy cleavage. Instead of #7 Cinderella, I would of replaced her with #3 Lisa Lau, who has similar qualities. They both are around the same height, they have short hair and they both do not speak Cantonese very well. #3 Lisa has a more proportionate figure and a prettier face.
#9 Cindy Wong has one of the worst haircuts, where it looks like they took a bowl to trim her bangs. #9 Cindy, along with #6 Annie Tai were often mentioned for their heavy cleavage as well. Although the 3 mentioned girls have very... noticeable figures, I would of replaced them with some of the other girls.
#4 Grace Cheung and #8 Hannah Cheung were standouts since the tryouts and it comes as no surprise that they made it into the top 5.
#10 Yiyi Lau was a favorite among the press, even though she had the worst figure, because she had the best face in the competition. She spoke limited Cantonese but fluent English and Mandarin. I was disappointed to see her miss out on the pageant since she seemed like a confident but not self-absorbed contestant.
#2 Vicky Tang and #12 Kiki Cheng were two contestants that were very similar. I expected one of them to make it into the top 5 since Miss Asia likes to advance some small cute petite girls. #1 Manecy Chan, #5 Louisa Yeung and #11 Jane Wong had some of the best figures in the competition. #5 Louisa and #11 Jane had amazing catwalk skills during the interviews, I image they might have lost out on looks. #1 Manecy was an all around contestant who should of made it to the top 5, but I guess being from Vancouver didn't help her in this pageant (Where as Miss Hong Kong and Miss Chinese International both favor contestants from that city). |
