Chinese New Year Disco

Sea Night Club, Newcastle Quayside

An opportunity for young and old to experience the unique atmosphere as the Year of the Horse is celebrated, including the traditional Lion Dance. Guest DJ for the Night will be Wayne Tunnicliffe of Metro Radio.

New Year Celebration Event

Chinatown, Newcastle

Building on the success of previous years celebrations, the Chinese Festival Group has organised an Open Air event in Bath Lane, Chinatown.  The programme has been designed to cater for all the family.

Head for the Chinese Performing Arts Stage Show and the Chinese Arts & Crafts Fair centred in Bath Lane beginning at 12:30pm with the traditional Lion Dance and Firecrackers at 3pm being the main attraction.

Hu Nan Performers

Newcastle Opera House, Westgate Road

A unique chance to see 12 principal performing artists from the Chinese province of Hu Nan on their first UK tour.

This high quality show, lasting 90 minutes, is a spectacular example of the Chinese flair for acrobatics. Including traditional Chinese Costume and Music this is a first for the North East.

A trade delegation from Hu Nan, a province in China, will be displaying their products alongside North East Chinese businesses in an exhibition highlighting the trade opportunities between the UK & China.

Chinese New Year Banquet

Civic Centre, Newcastle

Open to Businesses, Private and Chinese Community Groups this very special evening invites guests to flavour the culture, food and entertainment of a traditional Chinese Banquet. 

The evening will begin with a drinks reception followed by a traditional Chinese Banquet.  Performers from Hu Nan, in the splendid setting of Newcastle’s famous Civic Centre, will provide the entertainment.

The Chinese Festival Group have invited an Operatic Society from the well-established Chinese Community in Manchester to perform popular works from Chinese Opera.

A very special opportunity to hear the unique sound and see the splendid costumes of this traditional Chinese performing art.
