A thankful heart will bring forth a positive attitude.  A thankful spirit will change ones outlook toward life.  A thankful word will encourage others and brighten their day.  A thankful church will appreciate what the Lord has done for them.  A thankful home will permeate the graciousness of God and the fragrance of Christ.  Be a thankful person, and you will see what the Lord can do through you.

We have many exciting challenges facing the Church Council and our church.  The Council approved to call a full-time Assistant to the Pastor, with the main responsibility of leading and caring for the youth and the young adults.  We have a possible candidate but much work still needs to be done as we wait on the Lord.  It is a big step of faith to call a full-time staff in our current church situation.  Yet, it is with the hope to expand the ministry, especially with the youth and the young adults that the Council has reached this decision.  I asked the Council and the church to pray about this matter.  An additional staff member can have a tremendous positive effect on our church life.  Would you help us by praying about the calling of a full-time staff person?  Seek the Lord diligently, and He will show us the way and the answer.  I believe that as we trust in God, He will direct our path.

Another challenge is the idea of leasing or renting a 15-passenger van to transport those who need rides to the church.  It will be especially helpful during the Summer Adventure Camp for Kids (SACK).  There are many details the Council need to work out before this idea can materialize.  But again, we need your prayer.  Ask God to show us how we can do our best to improve the transportation and parking situation as our church is in the heart of Chinatown.

The third challenge is the discussion of adding computer projection for our sanctuary.  The projection system will allow us to use Powerpoint and other computerized projection of words or/and picture in the sanctuary.  This plan will enable us to use multi-media in the delivery of messages, songs, and other presentations. The technical and aesthetic challenges of this project involve the positioning of all the equipment -- the computer, projector, and screen.  Doubtless some changes to the physical setup will have to be made in order to accommodate the equipment.  Change is not that easy to come by in a 127 year old church.  Many of us have sentimental feelings for the place and deep seated ideas about what church ought to be like or feel like.  Therefore, the challenge in front of us is to figure how to incorporate both the traditional with the modern?  Can we achieve a good blending?  How we can serve the needs of the younger generation and still respect the older?  So again I request your prayer.  Ask God to grant us wisdom to know what to do and how to do all of the above.
                  Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
