Is a chinchilla a good pet?
I would say that a chin is a good pet for ages 12 and over. NO YOUNGER!!! People need to understand that chins are nocturnal, and they wake up around 6:00. They shouldn't be bugged during the day. Chins need a big cage. A really big cage. A very super really humungo-ginormous cage. You'll need about fourteen cubic feet for one chin. The largest dimension should be height too. Maybe about 2x2x4. Chins are really expensive to buy, but once you have one, it's really easy and inexpensive to take care of. They require a special food (I use a mix of oatmeal, bran, and red river cereal, "my" chin seems to like that), and some other special crap like that. Here's my recipe... 2 Cups Oats (Dry Oatmeal) 2 Cups Bran 1 Cup Red River Cereal (Near the Oatmeal Section) 1/2 Cup Alfalfa (Grains?)
If you get under 4,don't get a chin. If you get 5-7, you might want to get one. If you get over 8, you could probably get a chin.
