Is a chinchilla a good pet?
I would say that a chin is a good pet for ages 12 and over. NO YOUNGER!!! People need to understand that chins are nocturnal, and they wake up around 6:00. They shouldn't be bugged during the day.

Chins need a big cage. A really big cage. A very super really humungo-ginormous cage. You'll need about fourteen cubic feet for one chin. The largest dimension should be height too. Maybe about 2x2x4.

Chins are really expensive to buy, but once you have one, it's really easy and inexpensive to take care of. They require a special food (I use a mix of oatmeal, bran, and red river cereal, "my" chin seems to like that), and some other special crap like that. Here's my recipe...

2 Cups Oats (Dry Oatmeal)
2 Cups Bran
1 Cup Red River Cereal (Near the Oatmeal Section)
1/2 Cup Alfalfa (Grains?)
If you get under 4,don't get a chin. If you get 5-7, you might want to get one. If you get over 8, you could probably get a chin.

These are all yes or no answers. This is only simple Javascript, so if you don't answer yes, or no, it'll be incorrect.

In my house, there is a lot of noise, especially during the day. I usually take good care of pets, and will play with my chin everyday. I don't have any kids under 12 that won't know the rules. I'm aware that I will have to spend about $300 on my chin and cage unless I make my own which I WILL NOT use staples to keep it together because Kurt tried that and now it's lying in pieces on the floor of his school. I'm aware that this is a living being, and should be handled with care, even if it does have a built in airbag. I'm aware that Chins poo like crazy, but it isn't hard to clean up. I have enough space for a chin, and it won't disturb me when I'm asleep. I can speak chinchilla. I am aware that Chins need special care. I know of www.chinbin.com, the best chin site
