| Pre-Ownership Name: Mary Catherine Name Now: Erato (I call her Era, it's easier) Birthday: March 30th, 2001 Color: Silver Mosaic |
| Era is the first of my future herd of chinchillas. She is a silver mosaic, very curious, and loves to nibble. To begin with, getting a chinchilla started as a joke between my sister and I after she got her's, Tribble. I was not living at home at the time, but when it looked definite that I would be moving home, the joke quickly turned serious. I visited Christine at work one day and she was working with Nicole, the breeder. Christine made her go to her house and get the new babies. Nicole left, then arrived 20 minutes later with a box that contained Mary Catherine and her brother. I saw the baby M.C. and fell in love. I said that I had to have her, and just like that, she was reserved for me when she was done being weaned. It turned out to be the perfect time too because since then, there have been "innumerable requests for her," according to Nicole. In order to first prepare for her arrival, I had to clean my room, as there needed to be a clean place for her to stay and play around in. I spent 36 hours over 5 days cleaning and rearranging most of the things in my room so that there would be a nice place for her in the back corner of my room. The painstaking work has paid off, though; it is cleaner than it has been in like 8 years. It probably wouldn't be that clean if the chinch weren't coming. My room is also being planned out for maximum chinch play area. The underneath of my desk is going to be lined with Leapin' Ledges and tubes for playing and chewing. I am going to acquire a piece of driftwood for the opposite side of my recliner from the cage. Many more additions will be purchased and logged from the main page under Room Setup. Eventually I hope to have pics of everything from the chinches to their food bowls. Enjoy the pictures and stories. |
