Are you ready to get a chinchilla? Answer yes or no to these questions.
1.I have the time between 5:00 to 11:00 to take care of and play with a chinchilla.
2. If I do not have a spare room in my house I am willing to share my room with a nocturnal animal that will make lots of noise.
3. I have the money to buy a large ferret cage or wood to make my own, food, shavings, toys, and of course the chinchilla itself.
4. I understand that chinchillas need chinchilla company and I will need more than one chinchilla. (If you are living with your parents they may not like the idea much and refuse more than one, as mine did, so then you will need to spend even more time with your chinchilla!)
5. I know that dogs and cats may pose a threat to a chinchilla and I will need to keep the door to the chinchilla's room closed at all times if I share a home with any of them.
6. I am prepared to bring the chinchilla to the vet for yearly checkups.
7. I am not allergic to animal fur. (If you are allergic to mites you can still get a chinchilla, their fur is too dense for anything to live on it)
8. I know never to neuter or spay a chinchilla as they may not live through the operation. If I do not want kits I will seperate female and male chinchillas.
9. I know never to buy my chinchilla big treats that they might choke on.
10. I am thirteen years old and older and I am responsible enough to take care of a chinchilla.
