Nevers
Never hit your chinchilla

Never neuter or spay your chinchilla

Never leave your chinchilla loose in a room unattended

Never let your chinchilla chew on a live wire

Never let your chinchilla "play" with a cat or dog

Never punish your chinchilla; reward them for the things they do well instead

Never take your chinchilla out in summer, intense heat can hurt a chin

Never take your chinchilla out in the snow, your chinchilla could get frostbite or drown in a snowdrift

Never take your chinchilla out without a harness that has been tested; a chinchilla's body is smaller than you can see

Never use a flea collars or flea spray on a chin; they can't get fleas anyway

Never use cedar bedding, always use pine or aspen

Never use a hay rack to store hay. Buy those alfalpha blocks instead

Never give your chinchilla a bath in water. Chinchillas can get hypothermia easily. If your chinchilla gets wet, wrap it in a towel and put the blow dryer on low. If your chinchilla seems stressed by the blowdryer, stop. If you see your chinchilla still shaking or doing unusual things the next day, keep them warm and call the vet

Never feed them after midnight... sorry. I couldn't resist

Never bring your chinchilla to the petsitter's house when you are on vacation and certainly don't bring them with you. Give the petsitter the key to the house

Never give your chinchilla too many treats

Never give your chinchilla the run of the house, like you would a cat or dog. A chinchilla can get seriously hurt if they're unsupervised

Never chase your chinchilla

Never yell at your chinchilla

Never neglect your chinchilla
