My name is Bethany Elizabeth (Jentzsch) Mahana
Ortiz and I am from ... Well, I was born in Midvale, Puke-tah, but
moved to the Santa Barbara, California area at age 8 or so. I did
a bit of back and forth, but one day I knew I could not live too far
from the ocean. Yep, those days living in the camping trailer,
switching between Carp and Rincon beaches, sure
did spoil me!
See time line below:
1977: birth... in my parents bedroom. I was
an angel at just 1.5 hours of labor on my mother. My whole life I
continued to be an Angel, giving her minimal trouble (cough cough).
1982: kindergarten. I learned to skip, like
a gimp. All the other kids already knew how to.
1985: moved to California with Mom and Merek.
Spent some time in Pomona with Hilda and it always smelled like lemons.
Learned the wonders of Aloe.
1988: spiked hair straight up. Was a great
complement to my Poison t-shirts and black studded collar. A
must-have for all 11-year olds! Adopted such nick-names as Spike,
Rhino, The kid that ran into the wall.
1995: Became an aunt! Graduated from High
school... with black hair (a Halloween costume gone awry), a black
gown, black mini, and black hooker boots. Rarr!
1997: Went away to BYU. Had a blast my first
year! Lived with Laurette, who watercolored the infamous Leg Lamp.
1999: made the most life-changing mistake of my
life and concurrently dropped out of school.
2000: remedied that mistake, dispatched, and moved
back to California. Began working at IPT with Cate.
2002: started dating Javier secretly. Ran my
first, second, and third marathons.
2003: married Javier, much less secretly!
ran another marathon, and then an Ultramarathon (50k).
2004: loving life!
2005: baby? maybe!
