Day 2 in Beijing
Today was a rest day. Breakfast was very good. It
was a large buffet - all you can eat. We had
pancakes, bacon, fried potatoes, fried rice, pasta,
french toast, and rolls. Roger even had meatloaf! It
tasted so good! We met more of the families in our group. They are really nice! Roger and I
walked to the local shopping mall and looked through
a lot of stores. Then before we came back to the room we
stopped at Baskin Robbins for ice cream! Yum!!!!
After we returned to our room there was a knock at our
door. We opened it and one of the other moms in our
group was standing there in tears asking me to come
and see if I thought her daughter needed stitches!
(her husband and four year old are here too). She said
that I had told her I taught 1st grade and that she
was sure that I had seen this kind of thing before. I
went to her room and her daughter was laughing and
running around the room. I looked at her lip. It was
a good tear, but it was not bleeding and in a spot
that would be really tough to stitch. I told them that
I was not a doctor and the decision was up to them, but
I would put ice on it and give her some Tylenol for
pain. The little girl said, "see I don't need stitches
because a teacher said so!" Well I guess that I did
my good deed for the day!
It is almost 4 o'clock in the afternoon here! I will
try to download some pictures of our hotel.
Tomorrow is a full day of touring. Let's hope we get
a good night's sleep. I think a bunch of us are going
swimming later!
