Ok so we got to the gate in Guangzhou dripping wet, because
of no air conditioning and guess who had to go to the
bathroom? ME! So off I went to find a bathroom. I
found one and had my first experience with a Chinese bathroom. It
was like riding a bike. All of my experience from 25 years
ago in Korea came flooding back. I did just fine and
was really proud of myself. We met another couple on
this flight that is in our group. They are really
nice. Three and half hours later we were in Beijing.
The airport was much easier to get around in. We
looked for a luggage cart and saw a group of people
running and grabbing something. It seemed as if it
was GOLD! It was the luggage carts. They are free
here! We just stood back and waited a minute and when
the dust cleared there were plenty left. Went on to
get our luggage; no problem. One of the suitcases did
get damaged. Just a broken rod on the bottom. We
thought that it would happen. No big deal!!
Veronica (our guide was waiting just outside the
luggage gate and saw us before we saw her. She was
calling our name. Ranata, Roger over here I am!! She
then greeted us with a traditional Chinese bow. We
returned the greeting. Then she hugged us! She is so
wonderful and so proud of her country. I am sure we
will learn a lot from her. She is very straight
forward with the staff in the hotel and in the stores.
She gets right in their faces and tells them what we
want and we get it right away!
Our room is wonderful! It is like living in a palace!
Thanks Roger!!! He always wants the best for us and
I am so grateful! The others in our group have
regular rooms and boy you feel as if you can hardly
turn around. We have a sitting room with a small
desk, Tv, refrig, small love seat and chair, coffee
table and a very large plant (it is real - I think it
is a rubber tree plant). In our bathroom we have a
shower and a sunken tub, stool and a really cool
vanity sink area. then there is our bedroom - yes in
a separate room. Large king size bed with nightstands
on each side, a large amour, and a TV with stand. It
sure feel nice!
Love, Roger and Ranata |
