Part 51- Come Undone

By the time we got to work, the whole underworld was already looking at Daisetsu. We could snap out fingers and just like that, we could find out where he was and when he got there. We knew where he was staying, where he lurked, who he spoke to, where he ate, when he ate, what he ate, what he bought and anything thing that was of the tinniest detail. Daisetsu couldn't make a move without it being tracked. And that was the way Jia liked it. Kotei had been the first one to send eyes on Daisetsu, the little emperor was worried about his guards and especially about Ren, but he knew he couldn't baby everyone, especially people twice his age who had been in the game longer then he's been alive. Sozaburo and Karasu also sent eyes out, making sure that certain parts of the city were on high alert any time Daisetsu set foot there. Tsubasa, who had returned to his throne on the Yami was keeping a watch from a distance. He was backing the Itto Ketsuen and Ryuujin no Chi. Shikou, who's empire was more or less under Jia's word anyway, was only around as last ditch effort. Jia wanted Daisetsu to feel the pressure of being watched like a bug in a jar, knowing that one wrong step could cause a blood bath. When the rest of the 36 Moons was ready to work, there wasn't much of anything else we could do other then be ready for anything the other syndicates couldn't handle. Takeo was let know of Daisetsu's possible danger. The pimp was already watching all of Queen anyway so all he had to do was listen. It was almost boring waiting for Daisetsu to make his move. Jun and I did what we could, job wise, but for the most part it was like having down time in New York. We waited for almost two weeks after our initial arrival for Daisetsu to move. Once he did, we all knew about it. As I sat in the lobby, dozing off, my head falling back on the sofa, Jo in the other one across from me, curled up in his usual manner, I heard someone come in and then leave again. I opened my eyes only to see Jo across from me and my head fell back, tapping the back of the sofa slightly as I closed my eyes again. I slept for a total of five seconds before I felt something on top of me. I opened my eyes slightly as I lifted my head up, smacking my mouth right against Toki's. He, obviously, took advantage of the moment as he bit my lip slightly, a grin on his face as I moved my head back and said,

"Get off."

"That's usually the initial plan."

"I mean off me."

"If you let me."

He smirked as I as I sighed and said,

"Must you twist everything I say?"

"Yeah if I can."

I turned my head slightly as I yawned and then looked back at him as he said,

"Tired?"

"Exhausted. I haven't slept since we got here."

"Poor Ghosto...I should tuck you in. That or exhaust you first then tuck you in."

"You always think with your dick don't you?"

"It leads I follow."

I shook my head as he laughed slightly and I said,

"Seriously...get off me."

"How come? In a rush? Need to go somewhere? Someone call?"

"No, but-"

"Then I'm fine."

I grabbed him by his coat as I turned and made him lay on the couch. His already mischievous grin got wider as he said,

"Ooo....Ghosto's gettin rough."

I just stood up as I said,

"I'm too tired to play with you today Toki."

He laughed slightly as he said,

"I didn't know you were that strong."

I looked at him over my shoulder as I then walked ahead with intention to go to Jun's office for a while. As I made my way over there, I saw the glass doors in the front opening as Kotei and Ren came in. Kotei came in looking pretty much the same, blonde hair parted over the side of his face, a somewhat serious look on his face, pinstripe suit on with a black silk shirt underneath, undone as always since he wore the usual necklace and pendant on his chest. Ren walked in behind him, black suit on, a very serious man echoing Tai in some ways. His hair was kept tied back, black and long. Ren had long hands as well, slender fingers on slender hands, which surprised me consider he's probably the only one that could even stand up against Tai, height and build wise. Tai's hands were thicker, wider and looked like they could break metal. Anyway, Ren and Kotei approached me as Ren bowed his head slightly and tucked a free stand of black hair behind his ear as Kotei said,

"Is Jia around?"

I nodded as I offered to take them upstairs.

Once the little emperor and his guard were seated, I bowed my head and excused myself and took the elevator back downstairs to Jun's office. I spent the rest of the afternoon there, sleeping on the medical table in Jun's office as my partner organized and checked over some of his medical supply. He had to see what was still of use and what he had to throw away. All was quiet for hours and I was able to sleep through most it, still exhausted from almost two weeks of little to no sleep. Just then, I heard Jun yell my name as he starts shaking me and I wake with groggy eyes as I pull my hair back and said,

"What? What?"

"We have to go upstairs!"

I get up from the table almost in a trance as I button my coat up and head upstairs, following Jun who's rushing. I wake up enough to realize it must be important and I suddenly remember Daisetsu. He made his move...

We all rushed into the lobby, Tai and Gabriel standing there, some of the lower heads receiving orders from Tai as they rushed out. I faintly wondered what was wrong as I asked Aya, standing not too far beside me. I tapped his arm, marveling for just a moment at how soft he felt since he was not wearing his coat, just holding it loosely in his arms. He turned to me, caramel bangs falling around his perfectly oval face as his long lashes open, bright hazel eyes peering at me as I asked,

"What's going on?"

"Daisetsu made his move. He got a hold of Takeo."

"Of Takeo? What's Takeo have that he needs?"

"Nothing, he's just screwing with Jia."

I nodded as Tai finally dismissed the rest of the lower heads and looked at us. Just then, Jia came in, pulling his white Gucci coat up, moving his head slightly to the side as his dark hair moved back as his eyes turned serious and he said,

"Daisetsu made his move tonight. Pressure caused him to snap. He wandered into Queens earlier today and found Takeo. He got a hold of him in his apartment. I'm not sure but Sashi could be dead."

Sashi, Takeo's faithful servant...Akio shook his head in anger and disappointment as Toki said,

"Let's go then. How we gettin there?"

Jia checked his watch as he said,

"It's almost midnight. Roads, trains and all that should be somewhat clear at this point. I don't want him seeing all of us roll in there. Jo, you take me, Toki, Aoki and Mikkie in one car, everyone else split up, take the subway, take cabs and once we're in Queens, call. We'll meet up and Takeo's building and hopefully bring him out of this mess alive."

Jia dismissed us as I went with Aoki, Toki and Jo. Jia walked ahead, Jo not too far behind him, keys in hand. Toki had taken out his nine, his pride and joy as he checked the clip and then tucked it in the back of his pants, lifting up his shirt slightly to do so as Aoki pulled back the clip on his gun and then returned it to the inside of his coat pocket. Jo opened the back door for Jia as he got in, then Toki and Aoki. Jo closed it as I opened the passenger side for myself and got in as Jo got in the driver's seat. He started up the car and lowered the volume on the radio as he then looked in the rearview mirror and then backed out. Once we sped out of the garage, we were out in the street and sped off towards Queens.

Jo drove with one hand, his other hand on his lap, the ear peace from his phone clipped to the lapel of his black suit coat. He wore a red tie I noticed, his black button down shirt underneath looking very clean and pressed. I realized how sloppy I looked since I spent most of my day sleeping. I checked my hair, pulling out the part I had tied up as I undid it and then gathered up all my hair and pulling it up. I tied it into a quick knot, feeling loose ends sticking out as my bangs fell forward as usual. I paused to check the clip in my own gun and then braced myself as Jo turned corners at break neck speed, barely pausing as he zoomed through red lights. Once we got into Jackson Heights, Jo parked about a block away from Takeo's building. Toki and Aoki called Akio and Aya as I called Jun and Jo called Gabriel to let them know we were in the city. Jun said he was on his way since he was taking a cab with Akio. Jia put his hands in his pockets as he started to walk, Toki beside him as Jo, Aoki and myself cut around back. We approached the back of the building as Jo looked up and tucked his bangs behind his ears. I looked at Aoki as he gestured me to follow as Jo went to the side and pulled down the fire escape. Without much of a fuss, he pulled himself up and started to go up. Aoki and I took the normal way in as we quietly made our way to the front of the lobby. There we heard a gun shot which sent both of us crouching to the floor. I heard rats scraping to scatter and leave as an explosion of roaches in front of us spread. We stayed crouched down for a moment as Aoki said,

"It was probably Toki."

I nodded as we both started standing up slowly as Aoki peered around corners and I followed him. We went in slowly, going up the rickety stair case. I could hear Jo's footsteps above us as we moved slowly. So did he. I didn't know where Jia and Toki were and I worried for a moment until I bumped softly into Aoki's arm. He turned and looked at me as he said,

"Movement upstairs stopped."

I paused, listening, being still and making my senses work overtime trying to pick up every little sound. Just then shuffling was heard as a crack on the floor and suddenly another gunshot that made the stair I was standing shatter like a small explosion. I looked up to realize the bullet had broken through the floor above up and now dug its way to the wood I was standing on. Aoki rushed upstairs as I followed and we stopped at the next hallway as we saw Jo scooting back from a now dead body. His face and hands were covered in blood, his gun still clenched firmly in his fist as he slowly started standing back up. Once he did, he saw us in the corners of his eyes and turned quickly as he aimed. Aoki nor I flinched as Jo sighed for a moment. He then pulled the sleeve of his coat down slightly as he wiped the side of his cheek off and Aoki whispered,

"You seen Jia or Toki?"

Jo shook his head as Aoki then gestured we keep going towards Takeo's floor.

Guards overtook more floors the closer we got and as we killed off a couple, we noticed they weren't guards. They weren't even yakuza, free lance or syndicate.

"They're teenagers." Said Jo as he snapped his blade back in place. Young, now dead faces, hands still clenching a gun, finger ready to pull the trigger only to have experience and the ignorance of death stand before them and shoot them first. Aoki tucked his hair back behind his ear as he picked up one of the kid's gun and checked it. He then said,

"It's nothing. Just some piece of a shit you can buy out of the back of a trunk."

He tossed it back down as he stood back to his full height. Just then, we turned, guns aimed as Toki appeared. He threw down his cigarette in a pool of blood as he said,

"Sup?"

Aoki sighed as he said,

"Where were you?"

"Downstairs. Jia was waitin for Akio and Jun to get here. Aya, Jiki, Ai'iro and Karasu jus got here too."

"Karasu?" I asked.

Toki nodded as he said,

"What you think pretty little Ichiro would get his hands dirty? And the little emperor isn't allowed to come runnin into gun fights."

Toki tugged on his leather jacket, the sleeves falling over his hands slightly as he looked over his shoulder and then back at us as he walked, his boots falling heavy on the floor as his dark blue jeans were folded over them, the laces held by knots at the end of the opening, his once again black and blonde hair done up in shorter spikes since he had it cut, the blonde falling around his face as a black bandanna held back the spikes. He joined us, nine in hand as he gestured towards the staircase as we then froze when we heard movement above us. We all looked up as the floor creaked slightly, as if someone was walking. Just then, as if trained, we all raised our guns up, pulling back the clip and each of us took one clean shot. We heard a body thump to the floor a moment later as Jo then blinked and looked back down as blood dripped down his cheek. He reached up and wiped it off as I then felt blood run down my forehead and I wiped it off as we then continued forward.

As we started up the stairs again, Toki's cell phone shook against the cargo pocket in his jeans. He paused, raising his knee up slightly as he reached into his pants and dug out the phone as he answered. He spoke for a moment as he then hung up, turned and said,

"Yo, Akio, Jun, go get Li downstairs."

Jun and Akio took off back downstairs as Toki then said,

"We should go about this in a different way."

Aoki and Toki back tracked slightly as they went to the window and onto the fire escape as Jo and I continued upwards. We had to stop when the lights in the already dim hallway began to tremble and shake and suddenly went out. Jo and I automatically clasped each other's wrists in case as we leaned back against the wall. There Jo fumbled for a moment as he grabbed his lighter and held onto it. We were silent, the only light coming through from broken street lamps outside and the dimming stars outside. Slowly Jo and I went up, letting go of each others wrists as we reached the next floor. It was so quiet, almost like a morgue. As we continued to go down the hall towards Takeo's apartment, Jo almost fell as he said,

"Shit! What the fuck did I almost trip over?"

He flicked on his lighter as the hallway was lit up slightly and we looked down to see Sashi's body. He had a bullet hole to his forehead, blood streaked down the middles of his eyes and sprawled out across his face. His eyes were open, his mouth was as well and he laid still, his arm and legs beside him. Jo sighed as he then stepped over Sashi and I followed. We continued down the hall as we approached Takeo's door. Not too far from it, we saw another one of the teenagers we shot through the floor as Toki and Aoki appeared through the window. Aoki first then Toki as they left the window open. We all circled around Takeo's door, pausing, waiting, listening for anything. We heard noises come from inside, later we figured out it was the TV. Jo sighed as he rubbed more of the blood from his cheek as he looked at Toki. Toki nodded as we all stepped back and Toki raised his gun and fired at the lock. He then raised his leg up and with a sharp kick, broke the rest of the door down. We paused for a moment to see Takeo's lavished apartment was riddled with dead bodies, his concubines, laying about, shot, blood pooling around their bodies, some face up, staring at the ceiling. As we went inside, stepping over some of the bodies, we saw the living room was just the same as the hall way. The TV was on as a few of the remaining harem sat on the sofa, two young boys tied together, gagged as they looked bruised and tired. They recognized Toki and Jo as the two went over to them and unbound them. Deep red welts on their arms and corners of their mouths showed they had been bounded for hours. Jo asked if there were anymore alive but they both weren't sure. I started to go towards the back of the apartment, near the bedroom as I pushed open the door. The first thing I saw was Takeo, laying on his side on his bed, his arms and hands tied behind him, a gag in his mouth, his blonde hair scattered of his eyes, though blood was clearly visible by a trickle from his nose and streaking over his nose and staining his blankets. He was dressed in his black pants and a white button down, but he was barefoot. The next thing I saw was Daisetsu, at a window, gun raised as he aimed at me. I was pulled back as I slammed the door after me and I turned to see Toki grabbing me as we both fell to the floor. He got up first as he opened the door again and rushed inside as I saw Daisetsu had gone out the window and was going up. Toki cursed as he said,

"Aoki, I'm goin up, Daisetsu jus bounced, get someone to follow me jus in case!"

He ran to the window as he followed him and I went to Takeo. I brushed back his blonde hair as I saw his eyes were closed, but he was still breathing. The streak of blood going over his nose originated from a wound to his head, blonde hair matted with his blood. I undid the gag form his mouth and removed it as I saw he too had the same welts and marks as his concubines outside. I couldn't cut him loose from his arm and wrist bindings. Jo then came in and I told him to take care of Takeo as I went out the window following Toki. I looked up for a moment as I saw Toki chasing Daisetsu a few flights above me. I started to chase after them, gun in hand as I listened, leaning against the wall every now and then as a stray bullet cracked against the metal of the fire escape. I wanted to catch up to them so badly and I feared if I didn't....I clamped down that train of thought quickly.

As they reached the top of the building, a cold rush of wind blew through me. I paused for just a moment looking up through the thin railings of the fire escape as I saw the sky. It had been dark all day and I wondered why. I then continued running upstairs, reaching the last flight of the fire escape as I paused before going up. I heard fighting and I knew it was Toki and Daisetsu. I heard the shuffling against the gravel, someone sliding across it as I finally got there. They were fist fighting, Toki swinging at him and Daisetsu swinging back. Daisetsu had a good swing, his fist connecting with Toki's jaw. Toki turned his head and then turned back, spitting blood from his broken lip out to the side as he attacked Daisetsu again, getting him in a headlock for just a moment before he raised his knee up, connecting it with Daisetsu's face, hearing his nose crack with a sickening crunch. Daisetsu fell to the gravel as Toki stumbled back, raising his hand as he wiped his lip with the back of his hand. He spit more blood out as Daisetsu's nose gushed. The psycho then looked up as he cracked a smile and began to laugh. He laughed loudly as if highly amused as Toki looked at him and said,

"You sick fuck!"

Daisetsu continued laughing as he then got up on all fours and launched himself towards Toki. They rolled around on the grovel for a moment before Toki pulled himself slightly and reached up behind him as he grabbed his gun, Daisetsu evaded the shot and the bullet embedded itself in his shoulder rather then his face. Daisetsu shoved Toki off him as he got up. Toki got up as well, gun in hand as Daisetsu wobbled slightly but he suddenly regained himself and did a quick turn and kicked the gun from Toki's hand. I skidded across the gravel as Daisetsu then grabbed Toki by his coat and pulled him up to the ledge. I then realized what he intended to do and I took out my gun and minding Toki, I shot Daisetsu. I took a clear enough shot where I was certain the bullet entered him. But the mad man only smiled and still held onto Toki's coat. Toki struggled to get out of his grasp but only started sliding forward as Daisetsu fell back and off the ledge. I wasn't thinking...in a quick blur, I tossed my gun aside as I ran to them and grabbed Toki's shoulder and arm as I threw my weight back and we both fell to the gravel. I looked up as Toki turned and sat up quickly. Daisetsu was gone, Toki was okay other then his fight marks. He turned to me as he looked at me as I sat up. He then grabbed my face and pulled me in to kiss him, our mouths crushing against each others, blood staining my mouth and washing over my tongue as he kissed me. He then let go as he said,

"I love you."

I blinked a few times, as I sighed and moved away. I bit my lip slightly as I licked my lips, feeling his blood stain my tongue. He then helped me get to my feet as we awaited everyone else.
