Part 47- Rage

I couldn't believe Atshusi was so juvenile as to say that to me, as if to warn me. As if I cared. I was angry with that so called threat. The next evening, once I saw Jun, I told Jun of Atshushi's threat. Jun scoffed as he said,

"Are you serious?"

"Yes. He actually said that to me."

Jun shook his head as he said,

"You think Furukawa told him anything that had to do with the two of you?"

"I really, really doubt he would be that stupid."

Jun laughed slightly as he said,

"So you finished everything with Furukawa?"

"There wasn't anything to finish. I just...stopped it before it got any further."

Jun sighed slightly. I could see the disappointment and frustration in his face. I looked at him, I mean really looked at him as I tried to figure out why he was so upset by my choice to stop seeing Furukawa. I couldn't figure him out sometimes. Jun was as much a mystery as I was, so he confused me. We then got up and left and went back upstairs. Everyone was aware of Atshusi's threat since Furukawa had let Jia know. My associates, pretty much laughed at it, since they didn't care. They had nothing to do with the Kitsune other then business so the threat didn't apply to them. I sat in the lobby one evening, pulling my hair back from my face, then lifting it up and seeing how long it had gotten again. My hair grew too fast. I thought about cutting it again, or dying it...doing something to it other then leaving it black as always. As I contemplated that, I saw Toki leave the stairwell in a rush as he slid out of the door, slamming it shut behind him as he slid down against it. He then looked around as he saw me and made the shush gesture as I looked at him oddly. After a moment he got to his knees and crawled on the floor, peering around the corner as he then got up slightly and like a large animal, crept over to the lobby as he stayed crouched down and then got up on the love seat as I whispered,

"What are you doing?"

"Hiding from Akio and Aoki."

"What did you do this time?"

"Nothing!"

He said nothing the way he always said it when he caused some kind of mischief. I gave him this unbelieving look as he said,

"I owe them money."

"For what?"

"Cards."

I nodded as he said,

"I have the money to pay em back...I just....don't want to."

"You can't avoid them forever."

"I know. But I can for a little while."

I shook my head as he then looked over his shoulder and then sighed as he then brought his legs down off the seat and then sighed as he said,

"What are you doing?"

"Waiting. Since nothing is going on yet, I decided to sit here for a while."

"Oh...come here."

"No. I'm comfortable here."

"You know I can't move."

"Good."

He pouted as he said,

"God, the things I do for you."

He got up from the sofa as he walked over to me and sat beside me, putting his arms around me as he put his face close to mine as he said,

"Let's go somewhere."

"See that's why I don't pay you any attention."

"Why?"

"Because you just violated my personal space."

He smirked as he said,

"Sorry...I just like being as close to you as possible."

"Any closer and you'd be inside me."

I instantly regretted those words as he smirked even more evilly and said,

"I can so arrange that."

I shoved him back as I said,

"It's not gonna happen."

He pouted again as he then said,

"Seriously, you're bored I'm tryin to avoid mah boys, lets go somewhere."

"Where?"

"You'll come?"

"No, just asking to see what you have in mind."

"Thinkin...I don't know. Anywhere you wanna go."

I looked at him as I said,

"I'm fine here."

He sighed as he put his head on my shoulder and said,

"Okay, whatever. As long as I dun gotta stop touchin you."

I sighed slightly as I couldn't but feel like smiling.

I stayed put there until about early evening. It was then that Akio and Aoki finally found Toki and argued with him about the money he owed. He annoyingly paid them back and then everything was calm for a while. Later, Jo joined us in the lobby, Toki still with his arm around me as Aoki and Akio shared the sofa across from us, Jo in the love seat as he yawned, stretching his limbs as he said,

"I'm bored."

As soon as he said that, Furukawa entered the building and glanced over at all of us. I didn't meet his eyes and I sat still, not even bothering to look or move in his presence. I could feel those feral eyes on me though and I knew he was jealous at the fact that I sat comfortably beside Toki without so much as even brushing him off me. He didn't say anything though and went to see Jia upstairs. I looked over at Toki who sat smirking proudly as Aoki said,

"God, you got that disgustin look on your face."

Toki laughed as Akio said,

"Leave him alone. You know how he gets around his Ghosto."

Mentally, I blushed furiously. Being marked as Toki's...God that was so embarrassing. After a few minutes, Jun came upstairs as he was about to speak when he saw me beside Toki. His face changed for a moment before he started to speak again.

"Ah...Mikkie could I talk to you for a sec?"

I got up as Toki sighed and I went to Jun. My partner looked at Toki and then at me as he said,

"What was that?"

"What was what?"

"Nothing, nevermind. Dinner?"

"Hai."

Jun nodded as he then told Akio we would back soon and left to get some dinner.

When we returned later that night, I saw the lobby was empty except for Furukawa. Jun, without knowing, left me alone and I could have killed him. I wasn't sure of what to do with myself, especially when he noticed me and got up. He walked over to me as he said,

"That's why you wanted nothing to do with me? Because Toki came calling again?"

My jaw would have fallen open if not for the fact that I keep my face expressionless. I glared at him as I said,

"Excuse me?"

"Look, I'm not dense, I'm not blind and I know raging jealousy when I see it. It's obvious that you and Toki did, or do have a thing going on. And you got angry with me when I did nothing, yet you're running back to him if he so much as pays you a bit of attention."

Without thinking, I drew my fist back and punched him. I just took a blind swing at him and I didn't even know I hit him until my fist cracked against his jaw. His head turned as he stumbled slightly back and his hand came up to his mouth right away. I couldn't remember ever raising a fist to anyone out of anger. I may have yelled at Toki, or shoved him back but I don't remember hitting him...even if he did anger me. Furukawa looked back at me surprised as I said, calmly as if I had done nothing,

"You don't know anything. Don't you ever make that assumption again. Don't you call me again, don't you dare seek me out again. Or I will make good on my previous threat to kill you and apologize to my oyabun."

He moved his hand back from his mouth as blood spilled forward from his lips. He licked it back as he said,

"I'm sorry."

"I don't care."

I started to leave and I went back to Jun's office downstairs. This intense anger had focused itself so well and with such fine, pinpoint accuracy that I didn't even feel angry. I felt calmed and sated. I joined Jun downstairs as I helped him clean up a bit. We didn't come back upstairs until we heard noise, loud noise as if someone arguing or screaming. Jun and I headed up as we saw a large crowd had gathered in the lobby, Furukawa was fighting with not only Toki, but with Atshusi, guards, lower heads, Aoki and Akio were all over the place as everyone tried to get some control of the situation or was yelling. I had no idea what was going on as Atshusi turned and saw me as he started coming right at me. I saw his hand reach out for me but before he even touched me, Toki was behind him, picking him up with a yank of his coat and throwing him back. The frail looking Atshusi fell to the ground, his guards coming in sweeps around Toki and around their fallen oyabun as Jun said,

"What the hell is going on here?"

Akio pulled us aside as the arguing continued saying Atshusi had Furukawa followed, which lead him here and the little oyabun had seen the argument between Furukawa and myself and now Atshusi now suspected me of being the one Furukawa was seeing. Toki over heard and from there, it just erupted. A moment later, I saw Tai, head and shoulders above everyone else as he entered the lobby, Gabriel beside him as he raise his hand up and said,

"WHAT is going on here?"

His deep, loud voice echoed through the lobby as everyone fell silent and looked at him. Tai brought his hand down as he said,

"I demand to know why there are so many people here."

Toki turned, blonde bangs falling around his face a she said,

"Jia's bitch ass partner can know all the shit he wants about business but don't know dick when comin to tame an uke."

Furukawa glared at him as Atshusi, know on his feet again said,

"I want to see Jia."

Toki turned to him as he said,

"You can want anything thing little boy, don't mean you gonna get em."

He shoved him back as Atshusi glared at him and Tai broke that up before anything else started as he said,

"Right now, there is too much going on. Furukawa, you told Jia you could handle this."

"He can't handle shit! He can't even keep his fuck toy under control!"

"Shut up!" Shouted Furukawa.

"Make me fox boy!"

The two started getting closer as Tai blocked them again and said,

"Stop it. Furukawa, if you can't handle this, tell me now. I'll let Jia know."

"I can handle it."

"Doesn't look like you're handling anything to me."

We turned as Jia entered the lobby. He had his white coat on, his hands in his pockets as he made his way through the crowd. Furukawa looked at Jia as he said,

"I can explain."

"I'm sure you can. You got your lip busted."

"That was something else."

"Uh huh. So.....explain."

Furukawa looked around as Jia dismissed everyone with a wave of his hand. The trio wandered over to the lobby as Jun and I started to go back to his office. Jun then said,

"I wonder what that was all about."

"Atshusi is jealous."

"Oh...of you. I should have picked that up."

"He shouldn't be."

"I know. Did you break Furukawa's lip?"

"Hai."

"Why?"

"He said something out of line."

"I never knew you to raise your fist in anger."

"I'm not. That surprised even me."

After about half an hour, we went back upstairs and saw everything had been resolved. I saw Toki still sitting in the lobby with the trio and Jo as I said,

"Is everything done?"

"Hai, Jia and Furukawa spoke." Said Akio.

I nodded as I checked my watch and said,

"I'm going home. I'm still tired from not sleeping well." I said to Jun.

Jun nodded as he said,

"I'm going too."

Toki then got up as he said,

"Nah, let me take him home."

I sighed as I tucked my hair back and said,

"I can make it home on my own thanks."

I left the building as I went outside and waited to hail a cab. As I did, Toki came outside to join me as he said,

"You sure you don't need the company?"

I nodded as I said,

"I need to be by myself anyway."

I felt his hand come up to my hair as he tucked it back and then leaned over, kissing my cheek as he said,

"Still got my earrings in."

"I forget to take them out."

He smirked as he said,

"Nah...keep them in. They look good on you."

He kissed my cheek again, nuzzling me slightly with his nose as his other hand held onto the sleeve of my coat. As he did this, I felt a cold breeze pick up again as it cut through me. I saw the moon up in the sky suddenly turn shades, dark clouds rolling over it as Toki then said,

"Looks like rain."

"Looks like..."

He then held my wrist as he said,

"Call me later okay."

"For what?"

"Humor me."

I sighed as I then saw a cab and hailed it. Before Toki let me go, I promised I would call and then I got in the cab and started heading home.

In the cab ride, I kept looking up at the sky, wondering why the sudden change of weather. As I was wrapped up in thought, the cab was suddenly jolted forward as another car hit it from behind. Instinct took over as I reached into my coat, my hand on my gun already as the cab driver cursed up a storm and got out of the cab and I saw a man walk around as he started apologizing to the cab driver. I wasn't so quick to dismiss it as an accident and kept looking around as I turned and saw the car behind me. I saw no one else in there, just the man by himself. I turned and tried to get a good look at him. As I did, the other door beside me opened and as I extended my arm out, gun in hand, my wrist was grabbed and slammed against the seat. I tried to fire a shot off anyway, but it missed as I started to fight with whoever was attacking me. I gave them a good kick to the side, getting them off me as I tried to get my wrist free. Suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in my side as I stayed still and felt my blood seeping out and I knew I had been stabbed. I fell back motionless against the seat as my attacker looked up at me and by the glow of the hidden moon from behind the rolling clouds, I saw his face. I didn't recognize him right away, until I remembered he was with Atshusi in the lobby earlier. Behind him I saw Atshusi, his hand in his pockets as he held an umbrella up. It had started to rain. His guard got off me as he left the blade jabbed in my side as I dropped my hand down. I felt numb and weak for a moment as Atshusi then smiled at me and said,

"If your survive the night, I'll be surprised."

A moment later, pain recoiled in my side as I gritted my teeth. Atshusi smirked as he slammed the door of the cab in front of me as I laid there, wrapped in pain as I weakly started to reach for my cell phone. Any harsh movements I had to make hurt so badly, I thought I would die from the sheer pain. I managed to get my cell phone and with bloody fingers, called Jun. I weakly told him where the cab had stopped as I tried to tell him what happened. I felt so weak though...I don't even remember telling him everything other then where I was and that I had been stabbed. I hung up, dropping my phone beside me as I brought my hands to my wound. That was the last thing I remembered before blacking out.
