Part 41- Impress Me
Once the four of us boarded the train back to Tokyo, I only leaned back in my seat and promptly fell asleep. I was so exhausted from only a few hours of sleep so I was grateful I was able to lean back and doze off for a few hours. When I woke up again it was because I felt the train screeching to a halt. I picked up my head as Toki and Jia stayed sleeping, Toki with his head on Jia's shoulder, his hand on Jia's thigh as Jia was leaned back in his seat. I couldn't tell if Aoki was asleep or not. Not until I saw him pick his head up and look over at me.
"You're awake."
"I just woke up."
He nodded. The train then came to a complete stop as Aoki and I got up. We both woke Jia and Toki up as they yawned and stretched for a moment before they got up as well. We got our luggage once we were on the platform as we saw Jo and Tai, along with Toshimasa. Jia was use to see Tai and Jo, but we were all confused as to why Toshimasa was there. Jo helped Toki with our luggage as Jia said,
"Toshimasa...I'm so glad to see you...but why am I seeing you?"
"I got a call from Xiao Tien a little earlier in the week about something. It seemed there was some trouble in Kyoto."
"What kind of trouble?"
"Nothing extremely terrible, but enough to cause a small uproar."
"I don't like small uproars. What happened?"
"Small time syndicate in Kyoto started making troubles. They're stated as staring war with the oyabun of Kyoto."
"Shit...he wasn't there...it's why it just happened now."
"Hai. They broke into one of our casinos...killed a few people. Stole of the money but nothing but pocket change."
"How much?"
"About hundred thousand yen. Like I said, pocket change."
Jia nodded as he said,
"I should try to get in contact with Niikura. How's the China Doll?"
"He's fine. Just trying to clean up the mess that was left behind."
"Sou ka. As long as nothing drastic happened."
When Toki and Jo came back, he said,
"We're ready to go."
Jia nodded as he said,
"Toshimasa, do me a favor, when you talk to Xiao Tien next time, tell him to get in contact with the oyabun there. Niikura Eikichi. I met him in Okinawa. And tell Niikura to get in contact with me."
Toshimasa nodded as we began to walk away from the train. We got in the car, Jo driving, Tai in the passenger seat as Toki and Jia got in the back. Aoki and I took a cab back with Toshimasa to accompany him before we went home ourselves.
Once I was home, I unpacked all the dirty clothes I had and left it for my maid to take to the cleaners as I went to make some tea for myself. As I left the water to boil, I called Kazuki to let him know I was home.
"I'm glad. I missed you."
"Stop by."
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me. I haven't seen you in week. Stop by."
He was quiet for a moment as he said,
"That's the first time you actually invited me over."
"Don't let it go to your head."
He laughed as he said,
"I won't. I'll be there soon."
"Hai. I'll see you later."
We hung up as I went back to my tea. Within forty-five minutes, Kazuki was at my door. As I opened the door to great him, I found myself actually, happy to see him. Most of the time, no feeling was there. Just, oh Kazuki...the same as everyone else. But once I saw him there, I was glad. I hugged him before he even made the gesture and as I was in his arms, I felt really strange and also, really embarrassed. I pulled away just as quickly as I invited him inside. He smiled as he saw me as he said,
"You're just full of surprises today Yuurei."
I shut the door behind him as he came inside and took off his shoes. He walked ahead to the living room as I said,
"Would you like anything?"
"Just your company."
I joined him as we stood by the sofa as he held me close to him again. We kissed for a moment as I sighed afterwards. Within a few moments, I found myself holding onto him like I never held onto anyone before. I was glad to be there, I was glad to have him to hold. I couldn't remember the last time I wanted anyone this badly. I hid my face against his chest since he was taller then me. His hands came to my hair as he said,
"Yuurei...daijoubu deska?"
"Hai...I'm fine."
I loved how he smelled...a soft scent of cologne and the softest hint of cigarettes lingered on his shirt. I held onto him as he picked my head up and made me look at him. The dark feral eyes I once knew had changed. They changed as he looked at me and I wondered why they had changed. He leaned down to kiss me again as he said,
"You seem off."
"I'm not."
He kissed me again, longer this time as I parted my lips and invited his tongue in. It was the first time we kissed like that. When we moved back, he seemed dazed himself. He smiled at me as he said,
"Time apart was well spent."
I shook my head as he sat down finally. I sat beside him as rested my head on his shoulder. I was content...and I had not felt that way in so long.
The next day, I went in to work. I saw Jun finally and he asked me how it went.
"Same as always."
"I don't know why Jia bothers bringing no business heads."
"He doesn't really them. He knows enough about his own country."
"True."
"I played poker with Aoki, Toki and Suzuka's guard Mika."
"And?"
"I won."
"Good."
"They wanted to know how I knew how to play."
"You told them?"
"Yes. And they were impressed."
"Great. Now I have the possibility of them asking me to go to Toshimasa and Xiao Tien's casino."
I didn't say anything since he was right. Jun shook his head as he said,
"Lunch?"
"Hai."
We then left for something to eat. When we came back, we saw Aoki, Jo, Toki, Akio and Aya sitting in the lobby. They were talking for a moment, all except Aoki and Aya who were just sitting by each other, Aya curled up next to his lover as Aoki had his arm around him. Jo saw me first and said hi as Akio, Aya and Aoki then turned to greet us. Toki gave a slight nod in our general direction as they went back to their conversation. Jun said he would be back soon as I went to the lobby and found a free spot to sit as I listened in on the conversation.
"Toshimasa's here." Said Jo once he saw me listening.
"Sou ka. Is anything wrong?"
"There's a syndicate in Kyoto starting shit." Said Akio.
"So I heard."
"If the shit won't stop we might have to go up there. And thas gonna piss me off." Said Toki.
"Use your anger towards work Toki." Said Aya.
Toki sighed, leaning back in the sofa as I said,
"Did Jia get in touch with Niikura?"
"I think so. It's why Toshimasa is here." Said Aoki.
I nodded as Aya moved his head slightly back and peered up at Aoki. Aoki turned slightly as he kissed him and Toki said,
"Yo, you wanna stop rubbin it in?"
Aoki only smirked as he kissed Aya more as Akio laughed and Toki frowned and said,
"I hate him."
Jo laughed a little himself as he said,
"Don't you have Jia?"
"I wanna have a little of everyone. Includin you Baby."
Jo stuck out his tongue at him as he said,
"You already did."
"Yeah but you're like Aoki over there, the older ya get the hotter ya get."
Aoki flipped him off as Toki said,
"Hey I'm payin you a compliment."
Aoki moved away from Aya as he said,
"You called me old."
"You ARE old."
"Fuck you."
"Okay fine...you're not old. You've jus been doin this shit since I was thirteen an you got a twenty somethin year old kid but you're not old."
Aoki glared at him as Aya reached up to Aoki's face and turned him away from Toki as he said,
"Ignore him. You're mature..so what. You have me."
Toki rolled his eyes as he said,
"I'm goin upstairs. I gonna shoot myself in the foot if I keep watchin those two."
Akio laughed as Toki left and Jo said,
"You think we'll have to go to Kyoto?"
"Niikura seemed to be in charge...but now I'm starting to rethink that." I said.
Akio then tucked his hair behind his ears as he said,
"Niikura is the guy in charge of Kyoto right?"
"Hai. He's young too."
"How young?"
"Twenty-five."
"Damn he is young. Well if he fucks up he'll one be less person in the way."
I nodded as Jo yawned and said,
"I'm hungry."
"So what else is new Baby-chu." Said Akio.
Jo pouted as he said,
"Come on, let's get some dinner. Mikkie you wanna come?"
"No thanks. I just got back from eating."
"Okay. Aoki? Aya?"
Aya shook his head as Aoki said,
"I'm not hungry."
"Getting more and more like Toki each day. Okay come on Jo."
The two then left as I then went to find Tai.
The syndicate in Kyoto seemed to be a problem. They threatened to spill over elsewhere and Niikura seemed impossible to get in touch with. Once he did speak to Jia, he promised he would take care of the problem himself. That was two weeks ago.
Jia finally started getting angry after two weeks and called a meeting. He was angry that he had thought Niikura was possible of anything and he was also angry he would now have to go to Kyoto.
"I should have known that little brat couldn't do jack shit. I should have fucking known."
Tai organized some of the paper work on Jia's desk as he said,
"You gave him a chance Jia. Maybe it's about time we go there before this problem escalates and further."
"What a fucking hassle. Now I have to go all the way to fuckin Kyoto because of that idiot. God, I'm also mad at myself for thinking, for even THINKING he was capable of a job like this. Maybe there is a reason his father gave Kyoto to Iida after all."
Aoki then said,
"Should we start making plans to travel Jia?"
"Hai....I wanna get this taken care of before the problem gets any worse."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. Jo opened it after getting the okay from Jia and allowed Hisoka inside. Hisoka bowed his head as he said,
"Gomen to interrupt Jia but, you just got this."
He held up a box in his hands slightly as Jia said,
"Delivery man or personal courier?"
"Courier. Said it had to be in your hands."
"Where's from?"
"Kyoto."
Jia looked at Tai for a moment as Hisoka said,
"It's not ticking or anything."
"Good. Bring it here."
Hisoka walked towards Jia's desk as he set the box down on the table and slid it over to Jia. He then bowed his head again and excused himself. Jia stood up as we surrounded his desk and peered on as Jia looked at the box, turning it around in a complete circle as he then picked it up and weighed it slightly.
"It's not very heavy..."
He shook it a little and we heard something hit the insides of the box. He set it back down as he then said,
"Jo, give me your blade."
Jo went into his pockets and retrieved his butterfly knife and gave it to Jia as our oyabun expertly flicked out his wrist and moved his fingers back as the blade was swung open. Jia then jabbed the tip of knife into the brown tape across the top of the box as he slid it across, tearing it open quickly. Once he was done, he tucked the blade back in it's sheath as he gave it back to Jo and then lifted up the flaps of the box. Once he did, the horrible stench of decay and blood filled the room as we all gasped and covered our mouths in disgust. After Jia got control of himself he opened the box the rest of the way as he moved aside some paper and wrapping as he set it on his desk. All the paper and wrapping was stained with blood as Jia looked in and said,
"It's a head."
We all looked inside seeing a human head. But who's we didn't know. Jia then reached into the box slowly as he pulled out a piece of folded paper and opened it. He read it to himself as he smirked and shook his head. He then looked back at all of us as he read,
"Does this impress you? I believe the problem in Kyoto is solved. Niikura Eikichi."
Aoki shook his head as he said,
"The kid sent you the enemies head."
Jia nodded as he looked down at the box and said,
"Maybe I judged too harshly."
Just then his phone rang as he picked it up and put it on speaker.
"Hai."
"Did you get my package?"
"Hai Niikura. Arigato."
"I was wondering to myself the other day, what do you get the man that has everything? This seemed appropriate. Sorry for the delay by the way."
"It's all right. I see the results were well worth it."
"Hai."
"Niikura...do me a favor and bring yourself into Tokyo."
"Any particular reason?"
Jia smirked as he said,
"You've impressed me."
