Part 35- Disturbed

Just as Jun finished up on Jo, we all went downstairs with Toki who was still in agony after being stabbed. Jun cleared us out afterwards as we went upstairs and into the lobby. Akio and Aoki went to wash off their hands that were covered in blood as I stood in the lobby, somewhat pacing, trying to think of why Andou appeared like that before and who I was able to loose him so quickly. He was in my line of vision until I broke out of that crowd. I sat down on the sofa for a moment and took out the knife that I had taken out before to show everyone Toki had been stabbed. The knife itself was now wiped clean of most of his blood, but a few lingering traces remained. It was unlike most knives, since I recognized it to be a stiletto. Long and slender blade made to do minimal damage on the surface, but puncture anything beyond that. I sighed, putting away the knife when I heard the elevator opening. Jia came out, looking a little exhausted as Aya accompanied him. They walked over to me as Jia looked at me and said,

"What are you doing here?"

"Toki was hurt."

"Where is he?"

"Downstairs with Jun."

Jia soon ran off without another word as Aya said,

"Is everyone else okay?"

I nodded as Aoki and Akio soon reappeared. Their hands clean, Akio's suit still stained however as Aya turned and saw them. As far as I knew, those two still didn't make up. However, right then, Aya walked over to him and hugged Aoki, sinking closer to him as Akio came and sat beside me. He sighed as he said,

"So much bullshit happening."

I nodded as I then said,

"Do you know what color Andou's eyes are?"

"I didn't get a clear enough look. Why?"

"Because it's all I remember seeing on him when he walked away."

I leaned my head back as Akio said,

"I think this motherfuckers crazy."

"I think I have to agree."

We sat in the lobby for the rest of the evening, waiting until we got word from Jia who was still downstairs. Aoki and Aya stayed in the lobby with us, Aya with his head on Aoki's shoulder, falling asleep as Aoki held him close. Tai and Gabriel came around eventually but we couldn't do much anyway since Andou was back in hiding. So we waited until Jun came back upstairs.

"I'm assuming he's fine. The wound didn't puncture anything vital, he's just in horrible pain and pretty weak. Once he's awake, someone should take him home."

Aoki nodded as he said,

"He's asleep now right?"

"Yeah. I had to give him something to calm him down and he fell asleep."

Jun sighed dusting off his hands from the powder inside the latex gloves he wore as he said,

"Jia's down there too. So is Jo. Jo's fine by the way. He's just sleeping."

Akio nodded and excused himself to see his partner as the rest of us stayed put.

We stayed in the lobby, all of us until the early hours of dawn. Most of them had their pairs that they warmed up to such as Aoki and Aya, now once again on speaking terms were together, Aya sound asleep on Aoki's lap, Tai and Gabriel sitting beside them, Gabriel with his head on Tai's shoulder as they both were asleep. Jun sat beside me with enough space as he too fell asleep. I was awake for a long time. I watched everyone else sleep as I waited, watching the doors and hearing lower heads tip toe across the lobby as they went in out of the building. I got up around six that morning and yawned as I went upstairs. I went to the empty board room as I turned on the TV there and sat down as I watched the news. Nothing else had happened after the reported fire which was started by arson in the Kabuki-Cho. Some people were killed in that fire, but nothing else was said. I pulled my hair back after about an hour and I felt exhausted. I then heard the door opening as I looked over my shoulder and saw Tai.

"You're up early."

"Everyone else was still asleep."

"Did you sleep?"

"No...I couldn't."

"You should have tried."

"I know. But I couldn't. I didn't feel tired."

Tai walked over to me as he looked at the TV and said,

"Nothing?"

"Nothing. It's been quiet since last night."

Tai said nothing for a while as we watched the news and then eventually he said,

"Let's go back downstairs. Everyone's starting to get up and go home."

"They're not going home to sleep are they?"

"Not that I know of. It's just to shower and change."

I nodded as I turned off the TV and left. Once we got to the basement, everyone was awake again and Jia and Toki were leaving the office. Jo was already sitting on the lobby sofa, his arm in a sling as he sulked and complained about it being useless again. He smoked as his hair fell around his face, past his shoulders as Akio sat beside him, telling him not to complain. Once Jia and Toki were in the lobby, Jia holding Toki up since it looked like Toki was about to fall over. Jia then said,

"We'll regroup in about four hours."

We nodded as Aoki got up to help Toki as Jo offered to drive. Jia gave him a look as he said,

"Can you drive with one arm?"

"Jia, I can drive with my knees if I had to."

Jia laughed slightly and then with Aoki's help they left. The rest of us then parted ways and went home.

As I walked to the subway, I yawned, covering my mouth as I did so and then walked down the steps to wait on the platform. As the train pulled up and the people began emptying out, I saw Kazuki. His dark eyes noticed me as well as he came over to me and said,

"Why are you leaving?"

"I'm going home. Why are you taking the train?"

"To not draw attention to myself."

"Liar."

"Seriously. I think being oyabun of a syndicate is enough attention ne?"

I yawned as he then said,

"You were up all night?"

"Yes. I don't even have time to sleep. I have to go home and shower, change and come back to work."

"My poor Yuurei."

"I've done it before."

I felt his hand stroke back my hair once we got on the train. I looked at him as I said,

"You're going home with me?"

"Sure...I just left this damn train but I'm back on, might as well. The things I do for you Yuurei."

He sighed as I looked at him and then I turned away. I was actually glad he accompanied me.

When I got to my apartment, Kazuki not too far from me, I asked him to come in. He looked around for a moment as he said,

"So this is where Yuurei dwells."

"Yes. Would you like some tea while you wait? I still have to shower and such...I'll be a moment."

He nodded as I went to the kitchen and set the water to boil as I prepared a cup. When I came back out to the living room, Kazuki was walking around as I said,

"Are you looking for something?"

"Some sign of life."

"There isn't any."

"None at all. No pictures, no letters, there's not even any dirt."

"I don't like pictures, I hardly get mail and I have a maid that comes in every other day."

"Sou ka. Very neat and proper."

I nodded as I then excused myself and went to shower and then change. I was drying my hair out when I wondered what Kazuki was up to. It was too quiet outside. I guess I was use to Toki making noise....then again I would never leave him alone in my apartment while I showered. I got my shirt on as I buttoned it and then with the towel over my head, I went to the living room as Kazuki sat on my sofa, drinking his tea as he watched TV. He looked up at me as he said,

"Done already?"

"I'm sorry I forgot to serve you the tea before I left."

He waved it off as he said,

"I have hands."

I pulled the towel off as I started to dry my hair off slightly and said,

"I'll be just a few more minutes."

"Take your time."

I went back in my room and buttoned my pants properly as I tucked my shirt in and then got a tie off the small rack I keep in my closet as I lifted up the collar of my shirt and brought it around. I then went back to the living room to see Kazuki was now just sitting there, still waiting. He got up as he walked over to me as he said,

"Yuurei, you're hair is still wet."

I nodded as he reached up and did my tie for me as I said,

"I can dress myself you know. I just came to see if you were okay."

"I can sit and watch TV you know. I am a grown man."

Once he finished, he folded the collar of my shirt as he then cupped my face in his hands as he made me look up and kissed me. I let him, kissing back slightly as my lips moved against his. When he moved back, he smiled as he said,

"Did you actually kiss back?"

"Don't make me regret it."

He laughed as he let go of me and I went back to finish getting ready. Once I was done and my hair was as straight as it was getting, I got my coat on, putting everything I needed in my pockets as I then left my apartment with Furukawa. We took the subway back to Jia's syndicate only to stop when I realized I didn't have to return for four hours. No one would be there yet. I paused as I said,

"I should walk you to your office first."

"Why?"

"No one will be back for at least three more hours."

"Sou ka...so you want to get some breakfast?"

I checked my watch as I said,

"As long as we're in the area."

Kazuki nodded and decided to take me out to breakfast.

As we sat and ate, I was looking out the window, dazed and trying to keep an eye out for Andou. Kazuki saw me as he said,

"Always working huh?"

"Mostly."

We ate in silence for the most part and then drank some coffee as I kept looking out the window. Kazuki then said,

"Would you like to leave?"

"I just keep thinking something is going to happen."

"Relax Yuurei."

I tried to but I wasn't calm until we left and were back outside that I was calm. We walked a few blocks back to Jia's syndicate. It was two hours until everyone would get back. Tai arrived soon after I did though and he went to work upstairs. Gabriel followed in a moment later and I sat down, Furukawa checked his watch and said,

"I should get to work myself. I'll see you later."

He leaned down, kissing my mouth gently before he stood back up straight and left. I realized how casual that was for him and how it had become so casual for me. A little while later, everyone started coming in, even Jia, who returned without Toki, saying that he needed the rest. Jo, was still around though as Jun told him a million times to go home. Jo insisted he was fine enough to be of use and that his arm was hurt not the rest of him and he only needed one hand to hold a gun. Jun finally gave up and warned him not to get hurt any further. Jia told us we all had to be careful and that if we weren't Andou could get us when we least expected. Anymore incidents that happened randomly through the city were not to be looked at by us since that's where Toki was hurt and it was vital that we were never separated. Jia worried more about us then himself since most of us could be spared...not him though. We all went to work once Jia allowed us too.

Akio and Jo went in one direction, Jun and I in another, Aoki and Aya in the next. We all walked around, looking for any signs that could make Andou stand out. I remembered so little about him other then his eyes, how they looked so bright and danced against the flame of the burning building. The image haunted my thoughts and the now clean blade rested inside my pocket. Jun and I took the subway as we were about to go into Ginza again. We waited on the platform as the train was about to pull up a few people around us, some checking their watches as the soft breeze began coming up. Suddenly we heard a woman scream as the crowd turned slightly as did Jun and I. She fell onto the tracks as her bag fell onto the platform. I looked around for Andou, searching for him as Jun stayed where he was, looking around the both of us as some of the people tried to get the woman that fell on the tracks. She wasn't getting up though and the train was approaching. I then felt someone come up behind me as I heard,

"I believe you have something of mine."

I didn't bother to turn as I said,

"Andou Daisetsu I'm assuming."

I heard a breathy laugh as he said,

"So you know my name. I'd like what's mine please."

I reached into my pocket as I turned around and saw him. Dark red and brown hair stood slightly on its side, covering one eye as he awaited me to return his blade. Obviously false blue-green eyes peered at me, soft, dark make up surrounded his eyes as he then smiled and held out his hand. I returned him the blade as he then put it in his pocket and said,

"Arigato."

He bowed slightly as he then turned. I thought he was going to walk away when he turned back just as quickly and shoved me. I fell back, but stopped when I felt someone else behind me. I thought I was going to fall into the tracks but instead I landed on the platform and I heard someone else fall. I got up and saw it was Jun. I got over to the edge of the platform and thought about getting Andou instead, but I couldn't not with my partner on the tracks with an approaching train. Without a second thought, I reached out and grabbed Jun's hand as I pulled him up, the both of us on the platform, the woman who was pushed earlier also safe as the police arrived. Jun looked at me as he said,

"I thought you were going."

"I should have."

He didn't say anything as we got up and dusted ourselves off as Jun then said,

"Thanks."

I nodded as we both then left the subway, going back to the surface as we saw Andou again. He wasn't running, he wasn't even trying to flee the scene. He walked calmly through Roppongi's streets, hands in his pockets as I noticed he wasn't in a suit and tie, just some jeans and a dark gray zip up jacket. He wore a black shoulder bag that bounced off him as he walked, a silver chain hanging from his pockets. He looked no different then a common teenager. Jun and I looked at each other as we followed him and wondered what this kid was up to. As he walked, us not too far behind him, we saw his brutal sense of violence and how he walked close to the sidewalk, close to people and shoved them into oncoming traffic which was a common accident at times during busy hours. He didn't care who saw him do it or anything. He was sloppy but he did damage. We watched this go on for a few blocks as he randomly stole things off side walk stores, shoved people out of his way or even killed someone when the urge in him rose. Jun at one point said to me,

"He's insane. It's so clear. No normal person would go about doing this."

Andou was insane....even I knew that. He killed for the sheer pleasure of doing it.

Jun and I called everyone else who was working as we let them know what was going on. As we did, Andou stopped very suddenly and turned to us as he smiled. He had a bright smile, white, perfectly straight teeth as he said,

"How long do you plan on following me? I'm going into Ueno...are you two coming along as well?"

I was not afraid of him. I approached him as I said,

"What do you want?"

"Me? Nothing. I didn't ask for anything. Anything I do want, I just get. Nothing else about it."

"Why are you in Tokyo?"

"No reason."

He went into his pockets as he withdrew a pack of cigarettes. He took one out and lit it as he then offered me one. I declined as he said,

"I'm just going for a walk. I realized you two were following me a block ago."

"So you don't want anything." Said Jun.

Andou shook his head as he said,

"Do I even look like I want anything. Look at me."

He gestured to his outfit and then his hair as I said,

"Your clothes don't matter. You keep causing trouble."

He smirked as he smoked and then said,

"You can't prove that."

His eyes looked down at me as they burned into my mind as he then said,

"I'll see you two around though. I'm sure of it."

He then turned and walked away.

Jun and I were certain that he was here to cause some kind of trouble but the more digging the business heads and the lower heads did, the more we found out about him. He wasn't here with a syndicate, he was here with just Eve. Anyone who usually started trouble with Jia bought an army. A weak army but an army nonetheless. Andou had nothing and he was just walking around doing nothing as he said. And he was right about something else too, we assumed that it was him causing trouble...we didn't know it was him for sure. Other then the two incidents we saw with our eyes...that was it. But that alone was cause for punishment and Jia gave us all the same order.

"Bring him to me."
