Sign the petition for an American boycott of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Link of the Week Si Yang, Voice of America (via Epoch Times), analyzes Communist Chinese leader Hu Jintao, and finds, for all the talks of new leadership and reform, that the situation in most areas could remain virtually the same as before. More on Hu Jintao Wang Zhiping, of Taiwans Central News Agency (via Epoch Times), contemplates the economic future of Communist China under Hu. On Communist China and the United States Fareed Zakaria, Washington Post, warns the United States not to ignore Asia in particular India and Communist China. Tim Luard, in the fifth installment of his BBC series on Communist China, ponders the future of the PRC as a superpower. For the first three installments, see the last Weeks Links. On the Falun Gong War The Epoch Times relays three articles on practitioners travails. Zhou Rende chronicles the plight of Xiong Wei, who just left Communist China. Susan Jakes, also from Time Asia, examines the other energy options at the PRCs disposal. On Culture in Communist China Tim Luard, BBC, laments the demise of traditional Chinese culture in the fourth installment of his series on Communist China. For the first three installments, see the last Weeks Links. On Taiwan The editors of the Taipei Times (via Washington Times) insist that the island democracy must have an appropriate constitution, instead of the constitution of a non-existent country the Republic of China. On Tibet Alex Perry, Time Asia, interviews the Dalai Lama. As more details are found, they will be linked via the Communist China and the Terrorist War page. Sign up for the next Northern Korea Report (next edition goes out on Tuesday).
