"We run we jump we swim and play, we row and go on trips.  But the thing that lasts forever..... are our dear friendships."

The words ring true even 8 years after the tragically short run of this nickelodeon classic.  It saddens me to think that an entire generation of youngsters in grammar school today will never know the horror of donkey lips sitting on your head and farting, or witness the ingenious revenge plots hatched in the twisted mind of bobby budnick.  Let's delve a bit into the world of Camp Anawanna.

Bobby Budnick:  Played by Danny Cooksey.  This is your classic bully with a good heart character.  Has a penchant for steve vai, girls, kicking ass, and blackmail.  His long, red locks are sure to bring a smile to any lass willing to get to know the true bobby budnick.  Cooksey, you may remember also appeared beside Edward Furlong in Terminator II, as his partner in crime.  Remember?  he helped him use a game gear to break into ATMs somehow.

Eddie "donkeylips" Gelfen:  Played by Michael Bower.  This 300+ pound bruiser is way more bark than bite.  Don't let his size fool you, he can still be quite the charmer with the ladies.  Often known as budnick's right hand man in the classic "tiny-but-tough-weakling-has-abnormally-large-but-slow-whitted-sidekick-who-allows- himself-to-be-walked-all-over-by-his-mentor-because-he's-just-too-stupid-to-realize-how badly-he-could-beat-his-oppresser-if-he-really-wanted-to" syndrome.  

Z.Z. Ziff:  Played by Megan Berwick.  This overly-annoying and hyper nature lover grated on my nerves more times than i care to remember.  Not only was her character annoying, but she didnt even have the cuteness that Dina had, or the pseudo-cuteness that telly had.  thats enough about her.

Telly Redford:  Played by Venus DeMilo.  lets cut to the chase-  she had some sick parents.  who the hell names their kid Venus DeMilo?  Anyway, telly was the rough and tumble girl character, an all around athlete and pretty cool girl.  

Dina Alexander:  Played by Heidi Lucas.  My god i remember what a huge crush i had on this girl when i used to watch.  She was a snobby rich princess with high-class tastes, and the undying affection of donkey lips.  Shallow and self-righteous as she may have been, don't be surprised to catch her in a good deed or 2.

Michael Stein:  Played by Erik MacArthur.  Poor, Poor michael.  His visit to camp Anawanna was cut short by chicken pox, we hardly got to know him.  We did however find his inability to cope with peer pressure, (as illustrated on the cruel trick he played on telly by stealing her glasses).  He was a good sports rival for telly, even though she could beat him at most sports anyway, cause she's telly!

"Sponge" Harris:  Played by Tim Eyster.  Ahh sponge, the dorky-but-lovable resident boy wonder.  Nicknamed as such for his unique ability to absorb information..... much like a sponge.  His knowledge is SURE to come in handy in the many capers undertaken by the anawanna crew.

Kevin "UG" Lee:  Played by Kirk Baily.  Camp Counselor, Joke butt, hapless goofball, he's got it all.  With a splotch of sunscreen on his nose, and whistle in hand, the sole responsibility to keep the rowdy budnick crew in line falls on the capable shoulders of this one ugly man.  Gullible, yes, but he still has it where it counts.
