i saw a little girl
today
dressed up like a woman.
her spiked heels pushed into the
soft mud.
her toes pushed into the front
of the shoe
leaving the back end empty.
i saw a little girl today
dressed up like a woman.
with dark burgundy lipstick smeared
over her lips.
she walked with a crooked hip swing
along the rutted road side.
her hair was dusty & bushy,
perhaps she imagined she was like
the models in the magazines
with blonde hair billowing up with
the the breeze.
i saw a little girl today
dressed up like a woman.
she was far away from her eyes.
i grabbed the sides of her face
her cheeks were cold. |
