Project Pokemon Chimera by Mewtwo Lady. <" ">: Thoughts TR: Team Rocket Note: This story has a bit of the history of Prof. Sage and how he meets Giovanni and what they did to Cara. -------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 6: Prof. Sage. Approximately over twenty years ago... A lone figure is muttering to him. He had silver hair and a thin frame. It showed that the person was more interested in his work than his health. His height was slightly over five feet. His dark green eyes seemed to contrast with his light-colored skin. He was trying to figure something out. Even as a kid if he found something interesting he would study for days on end, forgetting to eat and sleep until his parents told him to eat and go to bed. He hadn't slept or ate much in the last two or three days, although it could have been more than three days, I am not sure. Fatigue was starting to get to him. He rubbed his eyes and tried to look at the slide that he had prepared. When he almost dropped it, almost destroying it, Prof. Sage knew that he should get something to eat and go get some sleep. So Prof. Sage put the slide down on the counter and had a light snack and went to bed. It was where he put the slide, which made a difference - it was put near a vial that was giving off some light fumes and coated the item. Three or more days later... As Prof. Sage got up and had his breakfast, the first thing he did was to go over to examine his specimens, and he first rubbed his eyes and thought, <"I must still be tired, I will take another look at it."> Prof. Sage looked at it again and then realized what he was seeing. "At long last, I have found it. I have finally found it. I have finally discovered what makes a Pokemon a Pokemon." Prof. Sage was so excited that he started to giggle to himself and do a little dance. Now that he had got to that stage in his discovery. Prof. Sage now had to get ready to show what he had discovered. He took all his notes and got them in order so that he was ready for the next symposium that his fellow scientists would be having. Prof. Sage checked the calendar to see when the next symposium would be. He found out it would be in just over a month. More than enough time to further his research and to write up a proper case for the symposium. During that time Prof. Sage had another thought going through his head, and that thought would cause him trouble in the not-so-distant future. Slightly over a month later... Prof. Sage made sure that he had everything to tell the people at the symposium, and that at a later symposium he was going to tell them what he was going to do. Prof. Sage came up to the podium and said, "For a long time we scientists have been trying to find out what makes a Pokemon a Pokemon. That search is over, for I, Prof. Sage, have found it." The people in the auditorium murmured. Prof. Sage replied, "Now I am going to show you what I had discovered." Then he proceeded to show his work. Many of the scientists were amazed at what he was showing. As Prof. Sage had finished, he was warmly greeted by many of his fellow colleagues. As Prof. Sage met up with an old colleague of his, Prof. Oak, he waved at him and the two talked about his discovery. "I am impressed that you finally discovered what a lot of other scientists were trying to find out. What you have discovered will further Pokemon research a great deal," said Prof. Oak. Prof. Sage replied, "That is just the tip of the iceberg. I had this idea in my head for some time. I am going to see if it can be done. So I am not going to be seeing you at the next few symposiums; because of it, I want to do further research on this idea. So I will see you in six months or so." Prof. Oak asked, "So what is this research about?" Prof. Sage said "I don't want to tell you anything about it, because I want to find out if it is possible - it is only an idea. But when I know it is possible, I will tell you and everybody else when I know for sure. Good-bye." Prof. Oak waved good-bye to him... Prof. Oak had a bad feeling about what Prof. Sage had said. He knew the man causally and that Prof. Sage was a brilliant man. Prof. Oak hoped that the feeling that he had about what Prof. Sage had said was wrong. Only when Prof. Sage told everyone, Prof. Oak regretted in not asking what his research was about. Immediately after he got home, Prof. Sage started to find out if his idea could become a reality. Over the next several days and then several weeks, Prof. Sage checked and rechecked, only to find his progress wasn't getting far. It was then that he looked at the slides that he made his discovery and saw that they had a thin coating on them. Once Prof. Sage found out what caused it he decided to put the other slides into the solution and saw that it only worked with some of them. Prof. Sage checked the solution and found out why. Prof. Sage had several different solutions, and so he proceeded to put the other slides in the other solutions and then he knew that he was close to making his idea a reality. About 6 months later... Prof. Sage had finally got everything that he needed for the next symposium. He had finally figured what was needed to make his dream a reality. All he needed was some help from his fellow colleagues to make it happen. As Prof. Sage was entering the building, many other fellow scientists warmly greeted him as to his previous discovery. Although if anyone knew what he was going to talk about today, they would have second thoughts about him. Prof. Sage came up to the podium and said; "The last time that I was here I told you about my discovery on what makes a Pokemon a Pokemon. During that time I had an idea that would prove that my discovery is right. Over the last several months I had exhaustibly tried to find a way to do it and I have. The best way to prove my discovery is to implant the essence of a Pokemon into a human being, more ideally into a pre-adolescent child, the younger the better." A hush came over the auditorium, so much so that you could hear a pin drop. Then a few of the older scientists started to talk to each other. A hand motioned a few more of the scientists including Prof. Oak. After a few minutes one of the gentlemen said, "Prof. Sage, can I ask you a couple of questions?" Prof. Sage nodded. "Are you going to try this on anyone?" Prof. Sage answered, "No, the person has to be healthy and strong enough to survive the operation." After hearing this a few of the people moaned, some of them closed their eyes in disgust; others shook their heads, while others pinched the bridge of their noses. "And are you going to do if there is no help whatsoever?" Prof. Sage answered, "If it need be, I will try anything to make my dream a reality." Then the group went on with their quiet conversation for a few minutes more and then one of them said, "Prof. Sage, what you have told us is appalling." Prof. Sage replied, "I have thought of everything from where they should be placed...to diet...and what to expect what goes with the operations." The gentleman replied sarcastically, "Thank you for that interruption. I hadn't finished yet. What you have told us is appalling and is more than likely dangerous. More than likely you will not get any volunteers for it and if you do it, it is immoral and illegal. From this moment on you are permanently disbarred from the scientific society. Now if you will kindly hand over all your research materials to us so that they can be destroyed and none of this atrociousness can begin." After Prof. Sage heard, his face went from sheet white to brilliant red, as he heard what the others had said, and then he said angrily, "You are jealous of my work. I toiled and sweated for so long to prove that my discovery is true - now you are going to try to stop me. No, I am not going to give you any of my research materials and I will find somebody who will listen to me and I am going to prove you wrong, once and for all." As Prof. Sage was leaving the building, Prof. Oak caught up to him and said, "Prof. Sage, you have to think this out, do you want to lose your career over this?" Prof. Sage turned around and replied "I will do anything to prove my discovery, and that all of you people are just jealous of what I am going to do." Prof. Oak stared as Prof. Sage walked away, muttering to him over and over again that he was going to do it and that everyone else was jealous. That was the last time that any of the scientists saw him. Though he wasn't the last person who had seen him. The last person to see him was Giovanni after Cara had escaped. But that is another story. Soon as Prof. Sage got home, he said, "I better get everything that I have and get far away from here. So that those idiot scientists will never find me. I have to get all my money from the bank, find a new place and hopefully find someone who could help me." Approximately four months later... Prof. Sage had done what he set out to do and now he knows how hard it is to get almost any kind of work. At first he thought that he could get somebody to help him, only to find out that the scientists had him blacklisted and that he couldn't get any work in the scientific field. Although he did eventually find some work only to get fired from it because he was still trying to find anybody to make his dream a reality. It was then that Prof. Sage was on his last cent, sitting on the ground, that's when somebody visited him. The gentleman was wearing a blue gray three-piece suit. He had with him a Meowth. There was something about him, you couldn't tell what it was, but it was there. The gentleman gave his hand and said, "Hi. My name is Giovanni and it looks like you need some help." Prof. Sage looked up at Giovanni and then looked down again. Giovanni pinched his nose and said, "If you want, you can work for me. I am very interested in your work." Prof. Sage looked up at Giovanni and said miserably, "What do you know about my work?" Giovanni replied, "I know that you had found out what makes a Pokemon a Pokemon, and that you want to prove it by putting the essence of a Pokemon into a human being. If you join me I can make it a reality. You can have everything and anything that you need. Money is no object." Giovanni found out about Prof. Sage when one of his members worked at the very same symposium that Prof. Sage was attending, and Giovanni had been looking for Prof. Sage ever since. The member was there to see if there was any info that would be useful to Team Rocket. Other than what Prof. Sage had said, there was no other info that was useful. It took Giovanni this long to find him, because Prof. Sage didn't stay in one place long enough. Prof. Sage looked at Giovanni and thought, <"Can I take this guy seriously? Is he for real? Maybe I should take him up on this deal."> Prof. Sage got up, shook Giovanni's hand and said, "You got a deal. How soon can I work for you? " Giovanni was about to answer, when Prof. Sage's stomach growled and Giovanni said, "As soon as you get something to eat. I will take you to a nice restaurant and you can eat till you are full." Giovanni looked at Prof. Sage and the clothing he was wearing and said, "I think that you should have a new set of clothing as well." Prof. Sage replied, "OK, but the first I need to do is to get all my stuff," and he went further into the alley and came back with a large bag. Giovanni went to the nearest phone and used it, it took about 15 minutes or so on the phone before Giovanni was finished talking. After waiting for about half an hour or more, a limo came up and Prof. Sage and Giovanni went in. In the limo Prof. Sage saw several different changes of clothing. After trying some of them he finally decided on one of them. Luckily there was a curtain area were Prof. Sage could change his clothes. After riding for quite awhile Giovanni and Prof. Sage went into the restaurant. The first thing that Prof. Sage saw was that it was empty. Other than the staff, they were the only two people in there. Giovanni saw the confused look on Prof. Sage's face and said, "I reserved the whole restaurant for us tonight, so that we can discuss your future with me. I hope that you like what I have ordered. The staff will also be leaving after the meal has finished cooking and my men will be serving us. So nobody else will bother us while we are eating." Prof. Sage nodded his head. As the meal was being served, Prof. Sage looked amazed at what was being served. His stomach growled at the sight of the food and Giovanni noticed that Prof. Sage was starting to drool at the food, and shook his head at Prof. Sage. After Giovanni and Prof. Sage had finished the meals, Giovanni asked, "What do you need in order to make your dream a reality?" Prof. Sage replied, "I have everything that I need with me. All that I need is a facility to perform the operations and a healthy pre-adolescent child, the younger the better." Giovanni then asked, "So you have everything that you need in that bag." Prof. Sage nodded and said, "If you want to I can show what I will be using in the operation." Giovanni nodded. After rummaging through the bag, Giovanni heard slight clink of glass and Prof. Sage produced a glass bottle containing a slightly colored liquid, and a small vial containing a very small silver-like seed and a case. Giovanni looked at the glass bottle confusedly and Prof. Sage replied, "I will inject this solution into the person, and then I would surgically insert this seed into the appropriate place, and when he or she wakes up, he or she would have the ability to do whatever Pokemon was put into them. Well that is what I believe." Giovanni was amazed at what Prof. Sage had said and then asked, "What is in that case?" Prof. Sage answered, "I will open it up for you." And Prof. Sage opened the case and Giovanni saw what was inside. Giovanni wanted to say something, but Prof. Sage stopped him and said, "I don't want anyone to find out what I have, other than I made a solution out of them." Prof. Sage showed him the bottle. "The fewer that knows about it, the better." Prof. Sage was still a bit paranoid and delusional, because of what the other scientists had said at the symposium, and after that he didn't want anyone to find out about what he was going to do. Although he almost starting not trusting people, because he was afraid of them finding out what he will do in the near future. "So when do I get my lab and equipment?" Asked Prof. Sage. Giovanni replied, "I could have everything set up within a couple of weeks or so." Giovanni thought for a moment and asked, "Could you put in more than one Pokemon into a person?" Prof. Sage thought about it for a while and then said, "I believe that it could be done. Although depending on how many you want to put in, it would take a short or long time to get it done. Why do you ask?" Giovanni answered, "I want to put as many of the over 100 Pokemon into a kid, then once it is done there would no stopping Team Rocket." Prof. Sage then knew what Giovanni was saying and replied, "Sort of like a Super Pokemon. We can discuss what kind of Pokemon that will be put in." The rest of the night the two talked out what should be put in and what should not be put in. Before they started the list Prof. said, "One thing that I should do is first start with the Pokemon that have three evolutions, and start with the low Level Ones first, like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Then start with the Pokemon that have two evolutions and finish off with Pokemon that have no evolutions." Giovanni agreed... "No, no, no, I don't think that a Ditto should be put in. If he or she escapes, he or she could look like someone else and we would never find him or her." "Yes, that would be a good idea." "Oh no, just thinking about it gives me a headache." "Oh, That would be alright, it even gives me the chills." After a couple hours the list was more or less complete - only when new Pokemon are found that they would be put in. A couple of weeks later... Prof. Sage was driven to the complex. Prof. Sage stayed as a guest at his one of his homes. It had the latest equipment. The arena was the largest that he had ever seen. All they needed was a kid, so they could start the operation. As Prof. Sage decided to look around, he saw that he had almost everything. So he went to Giovanni and asked, "I know that some of the Pokemon that I will be putting in are Water Type Pokemon and that they need to swim, but I haven't found the swimming pool that we had discussed during the last week, so where is it?" Giovanni went over to the Arena and pushed a button on the wall and the floor started to move, slowly revealing the swimming pool underneath. Prof. Sage was amazed at the size of the pool, which was slight smaller than the Arena. Giovanni replied, "I had thought of everything. I want you to touch the water." Prof. Sage touched the water and he noticed it was slightly chilly. Giovanni turned a knob and said, "We will come back in a few minutes and you can check the water temperature again." After Prof. Sage had a more thorough look through, he went back to Giovanni and checked the water again. Prof. Sage said, "Brrr - the water is almost like ice." Giovanni replied, "You remembered that one of the Pokemon that we decided to implant is a Dewgong and it can swim in intensely cold water." Giovanni then pointed to the knob and said. "So I thought that the pool water should have a temperature control." Prof. Sage nodded... Giovanni then pushed another button on the remote and the pool disappeared as the floor covered it up. It was after that Giovanni had started a program so that they could get a kid. The program was a special program that would allow a child to become a Pokemon Master a lot sooner. The work would be hard and intensive. All they needed was to be examined by the good Prof. in order to get in. Only... fortune smiled on the kids - one-way or another there was something wrong with them. One kid had recently broken his leg. Another had something wrong with her lungs. Giovanni was getting so desperate that against Prof. Sage's advice he enlisted his a few of his youngest TR members. Only to have all, but one of them die on him and the other turn into an insane idiot. Approximately 4 years later... Giovanni and Prof. Sage still hadn't found a kid yet so that they could start the operation, but that was soon going to change. "Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Phone Call, Phone Call." "Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Phone Call, Phone Call." Giovanni picked up the Vid-Phone and said, "Hello." "Hi Boss, I got some interesting news for you. You remember that you sent me to find out why there is so many Pokemon in the area. Well I have found out the reason. There is a young girl who has an astonishing gift. She can communicate to Pokemon with her mind." Giovanni looked at him and said, "I am going to send a few more TR members to you and I want for you and the others to monitor her for about a month, and I will make my decision at the end of that time, and I want a weekly written progress report on her with daily video report. OK... I want to see want she can do." The TR member nodded... After a month... Giovanni had looked over the progress report and knew that she was the ideal person to help him get Pokemon. So he sent the order to kidnap her. As Cara was going home, she heard a Meowth howling. (This not the Meowth that eventually teams up with James and Jesse, it is the one that eventually evolves into the Persian that is always besides Giovanni.) As Cara got closer she saw that it was tied to a tree on a short rope, unable to walk at all. It had bruises and scrapes on its body. Either it got those bruises from its trainer or from the tree. She couldn't tell. Cara knew that she to get that rope off as soon as possible, but as she got closer, the Meowth would try to get away, hurting itself further. So Cara sent some calming thoughts to the Meowth and it calmed down. As Cara was nearly there she fell into a pit. The next thing she felt was the sleeping gas hitting her and then she fell asleep. As Cara was sleeping, one of the TR members got a rope and went down into the hole and got her out. Another TR member went ahead and got the van. As Cara was taken out of the hole, the van came up. Cara was put in the van; her hands and feet were cuffed. After the tranquilizer had worn off Cara could see that she was in a van and that her hands and feet were chained down. Cara tried to get off the handcuffs, but it was useless. The only thing Cara could do was to send a message to any Pokemon to tell her parents what happened. It took several days for the van to get to the Complex. During that time TR would go to a restaurant and order some food and would feed Cara some food and take the cuffs off either her hands or feet and exercise them. So that she wouldn't lose blood circulation or the use of her muscles in either her arms or legs. When they got to the complex, Cara was taken out of her shackles, and that's when Cara tried to escape. Only one of the TR members grabbed her. Cara was then taken to Giovanni's office. Cara was being sent to his office, being held by a fairly strong male colleague of Team Rocket by her shoulders. When she got Giovanni's office, he looked at her and then said, "So you have unique way to communicate to Pokemon. I would like to see it happen. Take her to the Pit." Cara was taken to the outer edge some kind of pit, and then they pushed her in. After a moment of two a gate opened, that's when a Charizard came out. Cara was a bit scared, but knew that he would not hurt her, she hoped. TR gave the order for the Charizard to attack her. As he was about to attack, it happened that he stopped and started to snuggle up to her. They had done that with another half a dozen different and powerful Pokemon - and every time the exact same results happened. After they got her out of the pit, she was taken back again to Giovanni. Then Giovanni said, "I am impressed at what you can do. Now will you work with me?" Cara angrily replied, "So what if I can, I will not help somebody the likes of you." She noticed how quick his anger got, and then as quickly as the anger came it went. He then said very calmly and smoothly, "I think we have a way of making you cooperate with us." What he had said gave her shivers up and down her body. As she was being taken away he said, "No I think she would be perfect for 'The Project'." The TR member who held her, looked at him confused and then nodded. Then she was taken to another room strapped to a table that was angled up, although she tried to kick and scream all the way to that room. They had a strong hold on her. It was then that she saw the scientist. He took a good look at her, and then went to Giovanni and asked, "What do you want done to her?" Giovanni replied, "After you have seen what she can do, I think that she would be ideal for 'The Project'." He went to a console, pushed a few buttons, and the scientist looked what she had done to those Pokemon. (They recorded everything that happens in all of the buildings.) Then the scientist said, "She is interesting, but until I have done a thorough exam, I will be the judge of that." After he was done, he said, "You are right, she is ideal for 'The Project'. She is of the right age, healthy and intelligent, and when we are finished with her and we need more, she will be also at the right age." When they said it back then, Cara wondered what they meant. Now, looking back, she now knows what they meant. When they were finished with her and they needed more, she could produce more for 'The Project'. Giovanni asked, "So how long would it take to prepare for 'The Project'?" The Scientist snapped on his rubber gloves and replied, "Oh, about an hour or so, she would be ready for the operation." Then he turned to the assistants and said, "Get her prepped for it." Cara screamed, "I don't want you to do anything to me." That's when they put a gag on her. Giovanni coldly replied, "You have no choice in that matter." As she was still strapped to the table they got her ready and gave her two injections and she fell asleep shortly. As Prof. Sage got prepped to do the surgery, Cara was also being sent to the OR. When Prof. Sage got there, he shook his head and said, "For this operation, 'The Project' has to be lying on her front. He paused for a moment and shouted at them, "BECAUSE THE OPERATION IS TO BE DONE ON HER BACK." After they had placed Cara on her stomach and washed her back, Prof. Sage proceeded to do the operation. First he made two small cuts on the small of her back and proceeded to insert a Pokeseed inside each of the cuts. He sprayed something on the cuts and told them to take her to the recovery room. As Cara was been taken to her to the recovery room, Giovanni came up and put a collar on her neck. Prof. Sage was about to ask, when Giovanni replied, "She tried to escape a couple of times. The first time was when she was in the van. One of my members took off the hand and leg cuffs so that she could stretch her arms and legs for some exercise, then she tried to bolt from the van. The second time was just before she saw me. Luckily each time, somebody was able to catch her." Cara was sleeping off the drug that they had given her. Something was happening to her. When Cara awoke, Cara felt a slight ache in her back, also she felt different, how different she didn't know. It was when she was taken to the arena that she found out how different she was. As Cara was being taken to the arena, Cara would realize how she had changed. As Cara entered the arena she saw Prof. Sage. He went up to her and said, "You are going to be the first of possible many of this project. Cara looked at Prof. Sage and wondered if this guy was crazy. She soon found out the answer. Prof. Sage looked at Cara and said, "While you were asleep. I had put something in you and I will continue to do so until I am finished, but for now you are more or less able to do what a Bulbasaur can do." Cara started to back away from Prof. Sage only to be held by a TR member. He pressed into her back and said very quietly, "Vine Whip" and the two vine whips came out of her back. After an hour or so Cara got a handle of what she could do. Cara also realized what had happened to her and she knew right they're what she had become to Team Rocket. After Cara had finished her exercise, she was taken to her living quarters (although it was more like a cell than a room). The first thing Cara noticed was that only thing that was missing - any kind of mirror or any reflective surface of any kind. The reason was that Team Rocket didn't want to Cara to see her reflection and they didn't want her to see the changes that were happening to her. Giovanni came to see her and asked, "So how do you like it?" She gave no reply other than trying to charge at him. All of a sudden she felt a jolt go though her body. "I would not do that, I got a collar on you so that you don't do anything funny." Later that day Cara was given this metal headband-like thing on her that went over her head. Cara found out that the device was a damper. The damper was to keep her new abilities down so nothing would go wrong. Cara wore it all the time except when she was doing any exercises. It was shortly after that Cara was given her first meal in this place, but when she got it she had second thoughts about it. The food that was given to her looked like Pokemon food pellets. Then Cara took the glass and drank some of the liquid. She almost gagged on the drink; she didn't think that the drink was going to be that sweet. After a while Cara eventually ate and drank what was given to her. Meanwhile at Giovanni's office, Giovanni was watching how Cara reacted to the meal that was given to her... it was then that Prof. Sage entered the room. Giovanni looked at him and asked, "Why does she have to eat that stuff?" Prof. Sage replied "Since I had put in the Bulbasaur Pokeseeds in her, she has gone under a change in her body and so her metabolism also has changed. If you were to feed her a regular diet, the amount of food like that of a human would eat, she would need this amount," and then he showed Giovanni a list - and Prof. Sage said, "Eventually you could go broke, so instead giving her this diet would be better in the long run." Giovanni was still looking at the list and said, "Now I can see why you wanted to feed 'The Project' this kind of diet." Prof. Sage nodded and said, "That list is at the current rate now - as more of the Pokeseeds are put in, so will her dietary requirements change. If she doesn't get enough her health will suffer and we don't what that." Giovanni nodded his head... So Cara went through the cycle of eating, drinking, exercising, sleeping and the operations. Only it was going to change when she was going to have a Pokeseed of an Abra put in her. Cara was waiting for the sleep medicine to start working, only after a while she realized that she wasn't going to sleep. Thinking that she wasn't given the right medicine, Cara thought that she might be able to escape - only as soon as her feet touched the floor, her legs fell underneath her. Cara didn't know what was wrong with her, only as she tried to get away; she found out that she could only crawl. Cara had made it to door, only she found out that a pair of legs were blocking her way and Cara found out that she couldn't move her head to see who was blocking her. Cara then lightly felt someone picking her up. As she was being carried away it finally sank in. One of the injections that was given to her, wasn't to put her to sleep, it was to paralyze her. Cara needed to be awake for this operation. As Cara was put on the operating table, she realized that she couldn't move or feel anything, although she could see and hear everything around her. As Cara was waiting for them to start the operation, Cara tried to make out what the sound from behind her. The only sound that she was sure of was the sound of a drill. Cara then thought, <"So they are going to put a Pokeseed into my brain. What kind of Pokemon would they put in me?"> Cara thought for a moment and realized, <"They are going to put a Psychic Type Pokemon in me."> Cara then had the biggest grin on her face for a moment or two. As Prof. Sage checked and double-checked that he had everything and that the drill was working, he motioned to one of his assistants. The assistant picked up a needle and gently poked it on her foot. Cara did not react. He then proceeded going up her legs. Because Cara couldn't see what was going on, she couldn't feel the instrument and react accordingly. Now Prof. Sage was ready. Cara shut her eyes as the drill bored away to make a hole in her skull, after Prof. Sage had made a flap of skin to expose the skull. During the operation, one of the assistants kept on asking her questions. Then Cara heard clinking sounds like metal hitting glass. Prof. Sage then took the Pokeseed out of its container and slowly, gently, steadily put the Pokeseed in. Cara let out a gasp as the Pokeseed was put in. Prof. Sage somewhat looked at her and said "So you felt that." Cara said nothing, although what Cara felt was like a small electric shock going though her body. Giovanni then said, "Do you have to put her under for any of the other operations?" Prof. Sage thought for a moment and answered, "Other than a few of the operations, 'The Project' could be paralyzed for most of them." Cara hated it when they talked about her like that. Giovanni then said, "OK, I think that 'The Project' would like to know what is going on," and he then left the room. Prof. Sage then proceeded to put the piece of skull back, spray it with something, sew back the skin and also spray it with something, and then Cara was taken to the recovery room. After the paralyzer, wore off, Cara slowly started to move her arms and legs. When Cara completely recovered from the operation, Cara was taken for her exercise. As Cara was taught before, all she had to do was think of the Pokemon and then use its ability. Cara had a menacing glint in her eyes as she had thought of a way to escape from this place. After getting use to Abra's teleporting, Cara started to teleport everywhere, but because she had just started using it, Cara could only go a few feet at time. When she thought she could get away and escape, Cara felt a large shock go though her body. Cara forgotten that she still had the collar on. Cara then realized that she belonged to Team Rocket and that she had to think carefully on how to get away from them. From that time on, Cara was awake for most of the operations and went through the same cycle as before. Only, after a few years, Cara was given a computer and was given books to read. Several months later... Cara didn't feel well that day. For sometime Cara thought that she had come down with something. Only a few minutes later Cara got her answer. As Cara was doing her exercises, she was trying to hold in whatever was giving her trouble. As the TR member was about to give Cara a shock, Prof. Sage motioned not to do that. As Cara could not contain what was happening to her she let go, screamed and flames came out of her. As soon as it started the flames died out as quickly. Almost everybody was in a state of shock, as Cara slowly got on her feet. Then everybody in the area heard somebody clapping - they turned around and saw Prof. Sage clapping his hands and he said, "Bravo, bravo. You are progressing nicely. What is happening to you is a side effect to the operations, but I can help with that. Only I will do it once I am finished with you," and he then left the room. Giovanni saw what had happened and called Prof. Sage to his office. When Prof. Sage got to Giovanni's office, Giovanni shouted at him "ARE YOU CRAZY?" Then Giovanni took a few deep breaths and replied, "What is going on with 'The Project'?" Prof. Sage replied, "I thought that something like this would sooner or later happen. What is happening is the body can hold so much energy and at certain times that energy as go somewhere. I would expect that she would eventually go though a cycle of the following: Fire, Water, Electric, Ice, Poison, Psychic, and then in the not-so-distant future she will eventually have all of them. These flare-ups will start out erratic and then eventually will become more regular as more of the Pokemon are put into her. Don't worry - I have the cure for it, but only after all the operations are done and then 'The Project' will become a tool for Team Rocket." Giovanni had a mischievous grin on his face at that thought. True to his word, Cara started to have the flare-ups as more and more of the Pokemon were put into her. As time went on the flare-ups became more regular and more frequent. It was shortly after that Cara tried to starve herself, hoping that she would be sent to a doctor and then she could escape, only they were prepared for that as well and shoved a food tube down her throat. After she tried it a few times, Cara gave it up as a means of escape. As more Pokemon were put into Cara, her food was changed as well and her training regime was intensified as well from a 3 half-hour sessions a day to 3 two-to-three hour sessions a day. After Cara had received the Fighting Type Pokemon, Giovanni hired some trainers in the martial arts to teach Cara some fighting skills. Approximately Thirteen 1/2 year later... After Giovanni got the news, he got all excited and went to Prof. Sage office. Giovanni came to Prof. Sage and said, "I want you to put a new Pokemon into 'The Project'." Prof. Sage eyes grew wide as he found out that there was a new Pokemon being discovered and asked Giovanni, "What is it?" Giovanni replied, "They have found a fossil of a Mew." Prof. Sage thought for a moment and said, "You know that we agreed that we would not use any of the extinct Pokemon." Giovanni waved his hands assuredly and said, "This Pokemon might not be extinct and the people are going to clone using the fossil, creating a new, maybe more powerful Pokemon. Besides this Pokemon is a Psychic type." Prof. Sage again thought for a moment and said, "I need all the info on this Pokemon and, a piece of the fossil, and I will see if this Pokemon can be put into 'The Project' ". After looking at the notes of the other scientists, he found out that this piece of fossil was indeed valuable and made a Pokeseed from it. Also after Mewtwo was created, Prof. Sage also made a Pokeseed from him. Although it would be slightly over a year when both of those Pokemon would be put into Cara. As Cara was getting prepped for her second last operation, Prof. Sage said to Giovanni, "You know that we had put in her, 89 Pokemon, and if it wasn't for the discovery of that Mew fossil and the creation of Mewtwo, 'The Project' would have been finished now and she would have been under your control." Giovanni replied, "I know, but I have heard that some people are finding new Pokemon now. I have even seen a Togepi. Although at this point I don't know what that Pokemon could do." Prof. Sage replied, "That is all too true. Even after I give 'The Project' her cure and you make her your slave, I can still put any of the newly discovered Pokemon in her. Well I better get going and put the last Pokeseed into her." Giovanni replied, "The last for now. If there are any new Pokemon that are appropriate, they will be put in. Although I had wondered why you used certain Pokemon for the operations." Prof. Sage answered, "I find it is much better to use either the sleep powder and paralyze powder from a Pokemon to do the operations than using any of those drugs. It is less likely have any side effects." Cara was told to watch Mewtwo as he battled other Pokemon, as trainers tried to get the Marsh Badge. So when it was time to her operation to give her Mewtwo abilities, so she would know what she could do. It was during that time Cara had thought of a way of escaping, only to fail, until she did escape after a week or so, when Mewtwo Pokeseed was placed inside her - and that Mewtwo had escaped as well. To be continued... -------------------------------------------------------------- Author Notes: Whew. Sorry I had taken so long to write up this chapter. I had writer's block. If you notice this chapter is a bit longer than the other chapters. But finally you got some of the history of how Prof. Sage met Giovanni and what had happened to Cara. Also why did I not mention Prof. Oak's Grandson Gary Oak in the story. If you looked at the top of the story it was over 20 years old when Prof. Sage made his discovery. Gary hadn't even been born yet and wouldn't be for another 10 years or so. Although Prof. Oak might have talked about his son. The problem is the anime doesn't talk about Gary's Father, so I couldn't give any mention about him. Will Cara meet up with Ash and his friends? Yes, she will but not for a few more chapters. This Chapter has been corrected and updated Nov. 27, 2001. --------------------------------------------------------------
