For a few brief days towards the end of July, I was host to the revered medical Deejayno not beenie manbut DOCTORB RING DING! The extra B is NOT a TYPOthe extra B is for BASHMENTwhich is exactly what took place for those few summa days. Richie Jung was here in TORONTO, ONTARIOCANADA as part of a get away trip to l'Amerique du nord. He took a drive up from New Jersey after spending some time with his NYC counterpartKING DJANGO. So it was one late Friday nightJULY 28th that di doctor come mek one house call!

Richie showed up at my house in his GMC (german master class) truck, which was one mighty sweet ride! He got a little accustomed to his surroundings as well as his hosthe met my folks and then we were off to tek a midnight stroll in downtown TO. My gyaal Agatha and I took him down Queen St for a likkle food at TO's best pizza place, AMATO's, and then it was time to head back home for some musical nourishment as well as some banter. Den bunks wi res!

Satday was all about dancehall and JAMAICA! We had a big day ahead of uswhich began with a trip to TREA-JAH ISLE RECORDS on Eglington Wwhere we took in some conscious vibes courtesy of natty owners Wade and Kim. We were deh in search of the lost riddimwhich was the PROBLEM. Richie picked up some 45sunfortunately PROBLEM dunso all we had was our Profesor Nuts anthem SATAN STRONG! Then it was off to Keelesdale Park for some much needed bashment at TO's Jamaica Day celebrationmarking JAMDUNG's independence on July 29th 1962. Nuff artists dehsosome nice vibes and nice food. FIYA FI DI PORK, man! During the day we checked out some of TO's up an coming talentas well as established artists such as Major P and the pre-pubescent rasta singer- Sugar Prince! Much craziness erupt when the likkle yute rushed off the stage for the headliners of the showAMBELIQUE, LEROY GIBBONS, INSPECTA LENNY, TINGA STEWART, GLEN "nuh disrespect" WASHINGTON and PROFESSOR NUTS!

Ambelique serenaded the crowd with his soulful set of chunesi wasn't much into his set but Richie seemed to dig himso high i-ses from di Doctor! Nex up was Leroy Gibbonswho DUN DI PLACE! I wasn't aware of his stuff til that nightbut he was bashy! Much respeck to Mister Gibbons who got such a big forward that he even graced the stage for an encore! Then TO's own Inspecta Lenny did him ting and the dance mash up. Tinga was nex and he was pure niceness too100 percent entertainerfrom his dapper hat and locksto his cris voicenice vibes! He even welcomed up Sassa Frass to big up him ches which was much to di crowd's pleasure! Den Glen Washington played a overblownMUCH TOO LONG SET! People were deh for a LONG TIME and weren't interested in waiting much longer for the man of di hourPROFESSOR NUTS! Washington was making the massive bored and anxiousdem ready fi call di Fiyaman fi hang di singa up! He even had the audacity to shoo some likkle pickney away from the stageseying "dis my timenuh disrespect, yu know" PURE FOCKERY DAT! But towards the close of his set, he grew on mewith ONE OF THESE DAYS and THANK YU LORDtwo of my favourite songsdon't get me wrongi love glen washingtonbig respeck to di manbut di massive nuh wan himand if dem call fi him headMC galong wit di show, seen? And sowith no further a dueand no further timelike 20 minutesProfessor Nuts took the stage. The wait was DEFINITELY worth it. HELLLLLOOOOOOONuts was on fire! He wowed us with his amazing vocabulary and vernacular (eventho much of it was made-upTorontorians and pregnacious?) He had a clean setfree of swearingfi di pickney dem F it up! But that didn't stop him from mashing up di dance wit his hit on di PROBLEMSATAN STRONGyu know? He even brought on a guest deejayChicken Chestwho did a nice job of incorporating most of dancehall's big names into his rhymes. Professor Nuts truly lived up to his name as a top notch deejayintelligent, funny and skilled!

Sunday was far more laid back than the previous day, this time it was off to see singer man LORD TANAMO. Richie and I hopped into his chuck and we took a drive down to see Tanamo during which we listened to SHINEHEAD's PRAISESwhich included our other anthem, MY LOVE, sweet chune! Anywayafter a little bit of getting lostwe finally found Tanamo. The night was nicehearing stories and anecdotes from a legend in Jamaican music. Tanamo was very animated, charismaitc, humourous and spiritual. He spoke of his days with the Skatalites and how he was responsible for their name as well as bringing them back together in 83with his OWN money no less! He also spoke of his trip through Germany and Europe with Richie and the Senior Allstarshe had much love for the European people, saying they treated him like a king! The vibes at Tanamo's home were very nicea proud man but also a very gracious one. Before we left him, he prepared a NICE dinner of beef and rice and peasGOOD FOOD DAT! I'm still tasting those rice and peas! A truly amazing experience with TWO great ska musicians!

It was all about rekkids on MondayRichie, Tim , Ed and I went for a rekkid run through TO. We must of checked EVERY single record shop from Yonge to Queenat least all the good ones. It all started at PLAY DE RECORD where Richie cleaned out di place of all dem riddim rekkidsand i found some nice 45s. We then checked a shit load of stores lookin for Busta Rhymes' new albumUSED and CHEAP of course. Unfortunately it could not be foundso oure search was in vein. Well, almostRichie found himself quite a lot of cds (including a BRUCE WILLIS album for Ines) and really helped boost our economythat's what Canada really needsMORE GERMAN MONEY! After our rekkid run, we went to check out the CN TOWERthe tallest free standing structure in the world. The entire thing was pure shit disturbingwith Richie buggin the elevator operator as to why the tower was built and so on. Tim had some fun with a new mutant baby he had purchased at Toys R Usthe moral that we all learned from this excursion was "It is fun to fock with people!" We then headed back to my place where I began celebrating my birthday early by watching FIGHT CLUB for the umpteenth time!

Tuesday was another laid back daywe spent most of the day just watching TV and listening to music. I introduced Richie to THE FAMILY GUY which he enjoyed very much. We also caught episodes of FUTURAMA and THE SIMPSONS as well as various reggae videos. The Doctor got to see quite a lot of stuff that he previously had not been able to in Germany. In turn, he let me hear his NEW albumwhich we had actually been listening to for quite some time. The new album is AMAZINGdon't want to give away too muchbut expect the same great chunes that the Senior Allstars are famous for! OH SHITdangling preposition " FOR WHICH the Senior Allstars are famous". That's our grammar lesson for today kids! The night brought us to the Bamboo to celebrate my 19th birthday. Unfortunately, it was HOUSE nightso the music wasn't much to my likingplus most of my frens were NO SHOWSso i guess they weren't really frens. But we did have some company in the form of Agatha and Katherine. So, much love to demafterwards we planned to catch a LATE movie. Unfortunately, we forgot that it was a Tuesday and there were no late shows. Oh yeahand I neeeded to PISS real BAD! Luckily there was port-a-potty left from construction on Queen! All in allstill a nice birthday!

Wednesday was Ring Ding's last day with us in TOso we ended things with some nice company and mellow vibes. Again we spent a couple of hours with Tanamo and his crazy fren Lloydwho had no problem singing over Tanamo's classic chunes- "I called yu momma an she sed yu weren't homeI called yu daddy and he sed "yu got to go'"! Unfortunatelyas we had very little time, the visit had to be cut short! Nex ting on our list was to hang out wit some frens of mine and check out a movie. So we drove downtown again wit Tim and Jodi where we saw SCARY MOVIEwhich was more funny than scaryhehehehe. Afterwards, Richie, Tim and I spent a good hour sippin coffee, eating LOTS of donuts and telling jokes at TIM HORTON'S.

So Dr RING DING took his leave of me on Thursday after a very exciting five days. Our parting was emotional and we both held back the tears! But later we'd chat it up again over the phone as the Doctor got terribly bored in his hotel roomhe only had three channelsone of which was PORNhehehehe. So all in all it was an interesting visit. Furthermore, during his trip to TORONTO, he had NOTHING stolen from his person NYC Hopefully this winter I'll mek my trip to Germany where Ring Ding and I will cut a wikkid dancehall chune! Much love.
