CHEETAHS TIE WITH EXILES

Chiltern Cheetahs 14 Kent Exiles 14 (h/t 14-6)

Chiltern kicked off their 2002 campaign with a reputable 14-14 draw against a strong Kent side.

This season Chiltern are literally rebuilding from the ground up. With only 5 of last years team returning for 2002 the Cheetahs roster now boasts no less than 17 rookies.

The 2pt conversion was good when Q.B. Deniz Karagulle found Richard Strub in the corner of the endzone.

Chiltern bossed the 2nd quarter in terms of possession but it was Kent who scored next with a 13yd pass. Chiltern replied almost immediately when Quantez Scroggins was rewarded for his hard work with an 8yd T.D. run to take Chiltern in to a 14-6 half time lead.

The second half mirrored the first with teams exchanging possession, but this time it was Kent who broke the deadlock with a 2yd diving run and a 2pt conversion to tie the game.

The 4th quarter saw both teams working hard for the go ahead score, the main action being left for the last 2 minutes, both teams throwing interceptions and Chiltern's Defence holding out against a determined Kent offence.

Chiltern's next home game is against Plymouth on the 28th April is being played at Buckinghamshire University College and not their usual home ground. Further details can be obtained from Richard Barnes on 07710 249300 or e-mail [email protected]
