Chilterns Cheetahs 22 Plymouth Admirals 21
Cheetahs won their first home game of the season in the BSL Division 2 Southern Conference with a thrilling fourth-quarter comeback, scoring 16 unanwered points to take victory with only a minute remaining.
The game started with Plymouth taking a strong grip, scoring twice in the first quarter, but the second quarter was all Chiltern and they got their reward just before half-time when Rob Sutling passed to Brendan Peek.
The start of the second half was a re-run of the second quarter with Chiltern's offence moving the ball but, just when they were threatening, Suttling was intercepted by Plymouth's Jon Wyse, who ran the ball back 62 yards to score (6-19).
The extra point attempt was broken but the holder pitched the ball to Wyse who ran in for two more points (6-21).
Plymouth threatened to extend their lead in the fourth quarter until Nick Rockell knocked the ball from their quarterbacks grasp, Frank Mayo picked it up and ran 78 yards to score. Kris Stephens ran in the two point PAT.
Chiltern's defence turned up the heat, forced Plymouth to punt, and Chiltern's offence took to the field in what was to be a game-winning drive.
With completions to Peek and Stephens, they moved the ball down the field, the drive being completed when Stephens ran in from eight yards. The two-point attempt was successful when Sutling found Peek in the corner of the endzone.
Plymouth had one last change to snatch back the lead but were intercepted by Rockell, leaving Chiltern to run out the clock to win.
