The Chiltern Cheetahs have celebrated 15 years of the playing American Football in Chiltern Hills. A get together took place on Saturday 20th Oct. 2001 at their home ground of Amersham & Chiltern Rugby Club, that included many players and coaches that have been connected to the club since it was formed back in May 1986, as well as the current squad. The clubs also awarded it's players awards for this season. Frank Mayo also collected his award for the most Interceptions in the British Senior League, Division 2.
To celebrate their 15th season the Cheetahs are calling on anyone previously connected with the club, players, coaches and supporters, to get in touch with the club to join in the fun on Saturday 20th October 2001 at the Amersham & Chiltern Rugby Club, Weedon Lane, Amersham. Formed in 1986 the Chiltern Cheetahs have been actively promoting and playing American Football in the Senior British League, drawing their players from the Chiltern, Aylesbury Vale, Dacorum and Three Rivers districts. The Cheetahs are proud to announce that Frank Mayo, who happens to be one of the oldest players in the team, has won the "British Senior League" Division 2 league leading Interceptor for the 2001 season. He will be awarded his trophy this Sunday, 9th September, in Sheffield at the league final, which is being contested between last years runners-up Ipswich Cardinals and their rivals Norwich Devils, both who have just beaten the Cheetahs in close scoring games this year.
Passing:
Rob Suttling (2nd) was 73 of 173 for 1041 13 TD, 17 Int
and only missed 1st place by 10 yards to AP Surge's Richard Large.
Receiving:
Brenden Peek (3rd) had 31 catches for 400 yards
Kris Stephens (6th) had 15 catches for 315 yards
and the winner was Shawn Norris of Norwich will 35 catches for 562 yards
Rushing:
Kris Stephens (6th) with 567 Yards
with Jack Lester of Yorkshire Rams winning with 832 yards
Interceptions:
Frank Mayo (1st) with 9 Int's
Nick Rockell (4th) with 4 Int's
