A friend of mine died the other night in a car accident. It really has gotten me shook. An unexpected tragedy to someone who was so full of life. It seems to hit harder when it happens so suddenly and to someone so young. I didn't see him daily or even weekly. It was just on occasion, but when I did see him, he would greet me and speak so openly that it was such a joy to run into him.
In respect to this friend, I don't want to mention his name yet for fear that each of his friends has yet to hear the news, and this is no place to discover such terrible news.
And this falls at the heels of the death of my younger sister's "surrogate" grandmother, the woman who babysat her while she was young and formed a special bond with her she carried throughout her life.
We really need to appreciate and celebrate life everyday.

Okay, so Thursday I go and meet Governor Warner. I think he reads my webpage. Although I didn't say a word to him, we did make eye contact several times, and each time I was thinking "this fool had me stand in line for 3 hours at the DMV". So guess what...Friday it was announced that the DMV will open up one more day of the week and lengthen it's hours. You're welcome.
Governor Warner was there to announce the appointments to his new Virginia Asian Advisory Board.
So I go to this charity golf tournament on Wednesday just to be on hand in case any help was necessary. I also knew several golfers in the tournament and I was there for support. I knew my golf game sucked big time and I didn't want to let any teammates down, so I sat it out. When I get to the clubhouse, there are girls everywhere. Turns out that the event was sponsored by several of the clubs and bars in the area. So they decided to help out by allowing their waitresses and bartenders to be auctioned off as caddies to the golfers. So we have ladies from Excess, Live, Time Lounge, Have a Nice Day, and more just roaming around. So the golfers bid on their lady caddies and now we have tiny golf carts with two guys trying to fit their two female caddies also. You've got to get into some interesting positions for this to happen. I tell you that some of these golfers were inspired. Others just couldn't care less about the game. And to top it off, there was free drinks. Not just sodas and water, but free beer. All you can drink. Other girls would drive around offering beverages to all the golfers. When they ran out, they would come back to the clubhouse to reload. Being the helpful person I am, I tried to help each girl that came back. It was just like being at the clubs with all the drunk golfers and sexy ladies on a hot, sweaty day. It's like they took the nightlife scene and brought it to the golf course. Although the money they raised in the auction went to charity, the tips they garnished would be theirs to keep, so they were "working it well". Scantily clad and all. And there were some prominent golfers out there too. Big time politicians, CEO's, and celebrities. I don't want to call out any names because I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble. On second thought, I can say Bruce Smith was there. He's been in enough trouble lately anyways that this won't tarnish his image any. But then again he was hiding behind a leaf from me. Maybe he was ashamed of his poor golf game.

Where's Elbert???
Okay, I know it's been nearly 2 weeks since I've posted anything up here, but I've been a busy guy of late.
First of all was Jay & Aimee's wedding. To keep it short, it was nice and fun. I was on videography duty the whole time (from pre-wedding warm-ups to the last dance...I couldn't miss a thing) so I didn't mingle around as much as usual but by the looks of things, it seems that everything went fine. And if you want to see the wedding through my eyes, just ask the newlyweds for the video when they get back from Alaska (I haven't even seen it yet, but they say they loved it).
And for the wedding Luan was in town. So I hung out with Lu the few days he was back here on the east coast. It was just enough for us not to end up at each others throats. He still seems to like to argue with me though. We argue just to argue, not about anything important though. Usually just movies, sports, etc. We will debate something that may be stupid, but the point is to not let the other person win. Another day though, and I probably would have killed the boy.
What else has me busy...
Well, I do own and Xbox, Gamecube, and Playstation now. I've been catching all of these good deals on games lately that I've got enough to keep me happy for a while. Usually, a sale can go on for a system, and I'll be able to look past it because all I cared about were Playstation games, but now I have to have it all!!! The most toys wins, right??? I'm still working on the Xbox hacks though...
I went to Harborfest this past weekend. An event usually packed with a shipload of people was nearly empty this year because it rained all weekend. But the saturday fireworks still went off, sort of. It was billed as the biggest fireworks spectacular on the east coast this year, and it was cool and all, but 20 minutes into it the fireworks just stopped. It couldn't have been the ending because there was no grand finale where there are non-stop fireworks everywhere and it becomes so noisy that you can't hear anything else. So the PA guy comes on and says due to the weather and wind they are going to postpone the rest of the show until the next night. That's like showing half a movie and telling everyone to come back the next night for the conclusion. They couldn't just shoot everything up at once to close the show? Who goes to watch the start of fireworks, everyone usually waits for the finale of the fireworks. And we stood in the rain for this.
Today I'm going to the Phillipine Cultural Center (PCC) to attend a news announcement from Mark Warner, the Governor of VA. Hopefully this won't be as much of a debacle as my attempt to see the Presidents. This time I'm travelling 10 minutes, not 3 hours, in my own car, to a place I know very well. But this is the guy that had me sweating over my job with his budget cuts. I also spent 3.5 hours at the DMV on Tuesday because of him. Ohhh...this may not go well after all.
Tomorrow I'll explain how much fun I had at a charity golf tournament, and I wasn't even playing. Me, lots of girls, a senator, and Bruce Smith... Lots of smiling yesterday...
