Picadillo

INGREDIENTS:

2 LBS ground beef or a mixture of ground beef and pork
1 onion, diced
4 garlic cloves crushed
2 apples diced
4 chopped jalapeno or serrano chiles or to taste
1/2 kg tomatoes, peeled, deseeded, chopped
1/2 c raisins
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cumin
salt and pepper
2 tbsp oil
1/4 c toasted slivered almonds, for garnish

INSTUCTIONS:

Heat the oil in a pan and add the onion, garlic and beef. Cook till the beef is brown.

Add the apples and the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, for about 20-25 min, stirring occasionally till beef is tender.

SERVING SUGESTIONS: Garnish with toasted almonds. Serve hot with rice or tortillas makes great chimichangas(recipe soon) 1
