Romans 15:1  Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves
When Jesus arrived on this earth as a baby, the angels announced His arrival and proclaimed peace on earth "among men with whom He is pleased". God peace is there for those who please Him.
Pleasing God is something that can only be done by those who walk in the spirit of God and do not follow their fleshly desires. The flesh is the enemy of spiritual things so that what pleases us is not the way we live.
We should walk in a way that is worthy of the God that we serve. That means we should please Him in every way we can and bear fruit in good works and increase in the knowledge of God.
Luke 2:14  "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."
1 Cor 10:5  Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness.
Even Jesus did not seek to please Himself but came to please His people. how much we ought to please others by meeting the needs of those around us.
The Word of God instructs us on what is pleasing to God. We need to learn hiw to walk and please Him and continue to excel in it.
Galatians 1:10  For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.
Ephesians 6:6  not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.

Where pleasing God begins is with faith. If yo do not have faith towards God you cannot please God. It is impossible.
A real temptation in life is to seek to please men rather than please God. God warns us of this danger and encourages us to do God's will from our hearts.
The church is the bride of Christ. How important that Bride is to God and therefore ought to be important to us. As we bear the weaknesses of God's Children we are not just pleasing ourselves, but pleasing Him.
Pleasing God does not come naturally to anyone, not even the Christian.  We must learn what is pleasing to God by the continual study of His Ways and His thoughts as taught to us in His "Word.
2 Timothy 2:4  No soldier in active service entangles himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier.
