| This verse tells us one very significant teaching about salvation. It tells us that the part of our being that is born again at salvation is the spirit of man. This helps us to understand how it is that we can be born again and perfect in Christ and yet still commit sin. The answer is that sin is done by the natural man not the spiritual man. When we sin it is in our soul but our spirits are born again of God and are incapable of sinning. We know that from 1 John 3:9 "No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God." |
