Now these things happened to them as an example, and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. I Cor 10:11
The journey of human life begins at conception in the womb of the mother. During the nine months of pregnancy God is forming that child and making preparations for that child to be able to live in the world that He created. The development and preparations before birth that take place gives us a real illustration for us to understand that it is necessary for God to prepare each of His spiritual children for spiritual birth. There are many things that can prevent a child from coming to birth and cause death and there is always some anxiousness until the child is born.
The Children of Israel were in the land of Egypt for 400 years being prepared by God for the journey that they had to make to the promised land. They had to work hard, endure much difficulty and even go through the ten plagues that God designed before they could leave the land and start on their journey. If Satan had his way the Israelites would never have survived to cross the Red Sea. Pharoah would have killed them while they were still in Egypt.
Our spiritual journey begins long before we are saved. There is much preparations that God is doing in the hearts of men and women to bring them to the place of repentence and faith. The easiest ones to bring to the Lord are young children. They don't have as many things to "unlearn" as those who have lived in the world for a long time and have fallen into many sins. Satan will do all that he can to stop people from becoming Christians.
This Scripture was written about the Journey that the Children of Israel were making to the promisd land. God gave us this story as an example for us upon whom the ends of the ages have come. That's us! So lets pay attention to what God has to say.

Every Journey Requires Preparations
In Jesus' Parable of the Sower He tells us about seed that is sown beside the wayside and the birds of the air come and eat the seed before it can take root and grow. Later on Jesus explained that these birds of the air represented Satan who would steal away the very Word of God as it is preached so that people would not hear and become Christians.

In each picture of the Christian life there is a beginning. Each analogy will show us something different about our spiritual journey.

When we pray for someone that we care for to be saved we may wonder why our prayers are not answered right away. Our prayers may not be what brings God to save them, but what starts the process of salvation. It may take a long time for God to prepare them to accept Him. So keep praying for them, don't give up.
