| Because the Christian life is like a journey God chose a journey to be His greatest picture in the Bible of the Christian life. From this picture we learn many valuable lessons and get instruction that we would not be able to understand without God's greatest analogy. |
| The picture that God used is the Children of Israel traveling from Egypt to the Promised Land. This actual journey which took place about 3500 years ago is a real picture of the Christian life. As the Children of Israel left Egypt and travelled through the desert to the promised land so we as Christians must travel out of the world and into the Kingdom of God. |
| A second picture that we should keep in mind is that of the natural life. It too is a picture of our spiritual journey. Jesus started this analogy when he talked with Nicodemus and said that a man must be born again. Just as you needed a natural birth to start your natural life, so you need a spiritual birth to start your spiritual life. |
